Im all for the day games as well in late November, but I remember being in the Glass Bowl for BG-UT the night before Thanksgiving 10 years ago and it was full and cold. Whats the difference?

Weather & Time for BG Game....
Only thing that would be worse is the weather for NIU-Ohio tomorrow night. Negative wind chills.

Driving up for the game from south of dayton. Keep doing it even though everything points to staying home and warm.

It's time to email the AD's and the MAC commissioners and tell them how embarrassing it is to have midweek MAC games on TV with only "high school" crowds in attendance.

I think that you may be talking about the 2000 BG-UT game that was so was bitterly cold and Blackney kept calling timeouts just before the half-time and all the fans (BG included, I think) were booing him for calling inconsequential timeouts in that deep freezer.

Anyway there are several differences this time around. In 2000 the Rockets were 9-1 at the time of the game and there were representatives of the Silicon Valley Bowl at the game (UT's last chance not to sit home while ranked in the top 25) so the Athletic Dept. put out a plea to help make a good impression on the Bowl folks and good citizens of Toledo responded with a turnout of over 20,000 for one of the coldest games I can remember. Of course the Bowl folks ended up choosing a 6-5 Arkansas team (soon to be 6-6 after the bowl game) over the 10-1 randked Rockets, Pinkel moved on the next week and by not playing in a Bowl UT also dropped out of the final top 25 for the year, and that was that.

On a personal level another difference is that I am 14 years older and am now a bonafide geriatric case who likes to avoid breathing frigid air as much as possible so I am seriously considering taking a pass on this game although it will be the first home game I have missed since sometime back in the 1980s.

Whoa. If I had that kind of streak, the first game I'd miss would be the one where I could no longer breath ANY kind of air. Even that I might still make arrangements for one last visit.

That is the one I remember - it was 26 degrees at kick-off and we stayed through the whole game. Had access to the press box, but still sat in the stands. Don't look forward to ever doing that again - and since it is my choice, I doubt I ever would again, especially with having to look at an hour and a half drive back home. The good thing about that was - no work the next day.

I remember one at BG... we got shmoked like 58-21. We had a lefty playing QB. 2001 or 2003? That one was frigid cold as well. Dirt Perry is a wind tunnel though, and I expect frigid temps even if the rest of Ohio is in the 50's.

That was 2001. Bolden was held out for an injury and Brian Jones burned a red shirt and played the entire game. BG was good that year with Josh Harris and the UT defense had already started to devolve after the first two games of the season so by the time Jones got a feel for the game, the game was long since over score wise.

I was at that game and I don't remember it being cold so much as I remember that terrible wind. In fact the highlight of the game was when the UT punter (whose name now eludes me) kicked something like an 80 or 90 punt with the wind at his back. The punt sailed over the return man's head and then rolled (actually more like blown) another 30 or 40 yards.

Even with the loss to BG that was still a good year because UT won the MAC and beat Cincy in the last Motor City Bowl played in the Silverdome.

No work the next day?
AND 10 years ago I didn't have kids?
AND people hadn't grown totally weary of this BS yet at that time?

The way the month started out I sure didn't expect this for mid-November. It happens, though. Sometimes it's still mild, sometimes it's bitter, sometimes it snows. You never know.

Monday it's supposed to be 54.
