Languages, the new endangered species
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/03...59850.html

Basically, as the world urbanizes, the younger generations of non-Europhones move to regions and countries where it's necessary to learn European originated languages (especially English) for commerce's sake, they stop speaking and teaching it and gradually fewer people of places that speak unique languages continue to do so, languages gradually get phased out until only a few elderly people speak it and they die out.

According to the article, native tongues (including local dialects, I assume) are dying every two weeks, which sounds extreme to me but it's not my research.

The majority of the world, or close enough, knows a spot of English even if it is to say 'No English.'

Nope. I like having the bilingualism as a great advantage.

That's essentially how English has come to be.

As an ECU freshman, anything that can get your foot in the door of Cotton was a good tool.
