If you know of a deal worth more money that would allow MAC teams to play on Saturdays only I would be interested in hearing about it.

Yeah.
That equals $750k per school per year.
Basically that equates to adding one payday road trip and not having to decimate your program and fanbase while you are at it.

never said it was good. Original question still stands though.

Why?
The question was answered.
We could have zero tv deal for all I care.
Play one extta early season away game with Big Ten or SEC and whole thing is a wash.
Yeah, that's the other way in which we've sold our souls. We have 2-3 losses built into our schedule every single year. How many big 10/Sec teams did we play in our 11-0-1 season in '95? Is it really better for recruiting to have a game in an empty stadium on Tuesday night vs. the ability to click on The AP Top 25 and see us in it?

Look at Marshall this year; somehow they've assembled what is hands down the weakest FBS college football schedule I have ever seen. But it's going to get them into a bowl game that will get them paid a lot more than any P5 would pay for them to come take a beatdowns in their house, plus the 750k sellout check from the sports channel.

Where they fake attendance more recently now. EMU claimed almost 20k to two of their home games this year (LOL). WMU's game at BGSU was clearly overblown like a male porn star who can't remember his lines.

I'm still waiting for the proof that MAC fanbases have been decimated. Here's the MAC's avg attendance since 2003, weeknight games started in 2007. Point to the part where attendance is ruined forever.

MAC ATTENDANCE
16,739 -2013
15,526 -2012
17,033 -2011
15,609 -2010
15,317 -2009
16,727 -2008
17,334- 2007
17,696 -2006
14,489 -2005
17,899 -2004
17,820 -2003

Define Attendance----maybe the schools sell about as many tickets as ever (or at least give away about the same number of tickets thru sponsored promotions, etc.)---but there are a LOT fewer fans attending games---at least that is my experience at UT games. In 2000 & 2001 they routinely had bring temporary bleacher seating to accommodate Glass Bowl crowds in excess of 30,000----and those were real people not tickets sold to no-shows. UT is now lucky to average 20,000 per home game whereas for 2001 the season average was just a bit over 30,000. Higher ticket prices probably plays a role in this drop off as does the quality of the product on the field but the availability of TV coverage coupled with late night mid-week games has to take a toll as well.

now you have to prove that the way schools report attendance has changed, and that they changed it to hide the effect of weeknight games. As for EMU, the last time EMU hosted a weeknight game was on the second Tuesday of Never, so how EMU reports its attendance has nothing to do with the effects of weeknight games at all. you're desperate grabbing at straws.

Are you attending the NIU-Ohio game this evening?

Those are probably the inflated numbers that are reported, not fans in the seats. We've seen many instances where an announced attendance is no where near the actual attendance. If there are that many fans actually at the games then they are well camouflaged.

No, the way they reported attendance would not have to change. You could have sold 20,000 tickets a decade ago and had 20,000 in attendance. Now you still report 20,000 tickets sold as attendance but there are only 12,000 actually going to the game.

RE: Fans, teams get a raw deal from MAC, ESPN
The fact is butts in seats goes down during midweek for alumni... especially after half time. Watch the games listed at 12k on Wednesday in November vs. Saturday in November. There are still more alumni that can attend on Saturday without work early the next morning.

The real questions is, do fans enjoy Maction on TV? And is the exposure worth it? If reported attendance isn't changing much... then the schools are still collecting on the tickets sold. 20k bought is 20k bought. They could be losing money for the 50-50/concessions? Is that more revenue lost than the TV deal? Someone tell me.
