RE: Report: Clemson QB DeShaun Watson has a Torn ACL
Did the GTech Fans boo his injury like Clemson fans did on Cuse players?

Sorry to hear about the bad luck the kid had...

That's 2 ACL injuries in a week for up and coming QB's in the Atlantic division.

I think ours may be done with his playing career (3rd on same knee). Lets hope Watson rehabs back well for a good showing sometime next year.

No. And we lost our fastest guy on the team -- an absolute burner -- to a NASTY leg fracture. Snoddy nearly was showing his leg bones to the world outside his skin.

Man, I HATE these injuries! Hope the young men can heal fully. As for the teams - Watson (CU) and Snoddy (GT) will be sorely missed, no doubt.

Quote: Head Coach Dabo Swinney received good news from his medical staff Sunday night. Freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson and senior offensive guard David Beasley do not have major injuries and could return this season.

Watson has a sprained LCL and a bone bruise, while Beasley was diagnosed with Patellar tendon inflammation. Both were injured in Clemson’s loss at Georgia Tech on Saturday. Watson went out in the first quarter with Clemson ahead 3-0.

“We received some great news tonight,” said Swinney. “Both players are not seriously injured, something we feared Saturday. They are listed day-to-day and their status will be evaluated later this week.”

Just ill-timed injuries. I have no doubt with Watson, Clemson would have beaten GT.

Great news...the initial reports from SI were not good.

RE: Report: Clemson QB DeShaun Watson has a Torn ACL
the frustrating thing is that swinney had a good recruiting plan of succession for the qb position: boyd starts 3 years, chad kelly starts 2-3 years, deshaun watson redshirts first year and starts for 2-3 years. stoudt was never intended to start, IMO. Kelly has a not-so-good spring, pitches a hissy fit and leaves swinney no choice but to dismiss him. call it a life lesson, but if he had been patient and continued competing, he would probably be the starting qb right now.

rb is a similar tale. dye would have started in 2013, but was injured. he got injured again last spring and is just now getting his first snaps. that eliminates plan A for this year. brooks blows an ACL in august, eliminating plan B. choice blows an ACL a month ago, eliminating plan C. gallman is proving serviceable, but we have to realize that we're on plan D at this point.

all that to say that the coaches have recruited well, but have been snakebit on injuries and dismissals this year. that is why the offense is struggling so much.

Good luck Clemson the rest of the season.

It started last year when injuries ended the careers of Gifford Timothy and Patrick DeStefano off the OL during the season. From that point on OL depth was going to be thin this year. Then Shaq Anthony announces he is transferring during fall camp that makes it that much worse. We lost Oliver Jones to injury for the season, Jay Guillermo and Ryan Norton have both missed time due to injury, and now David Beasley is out for an unknown amount of time.

Next year is going to be much of the same unless Falcinelli, Hearn, and Morris make huge strides between now and the opener.

totally agree, OL might be even more snakebit. I've read some folks saying that this season is swinney's best coaching job in light of the adversity at QB, RB and OL.

I assume he won't be needed this week. But does this mean he might be available for South Carolina? That could be huge. If he is available, Dabo should keep the news under wraps so Coach Superior has to game plan for Stoudt.

IMO that feeling wouldn't be hyperbole. For several games this season there was only one true backup available on the OL, Tyrone Crowder.

If we had even just one or two of those players available perhaps we are able to run the ball more effectively, taking the pressure off of an injured Stoudt at QB and allowing him to play more within his game. Perhaps he is more comfortable at this point instead of being an apparent headcase.
