You DO realize...... we always want to drag you with us what ever conference we are in. right? And if we ever part, I would hope we work out a football/basketball OOC deal that sends us the Big Easy at least once per year. I see us as sister cities. The City of New Orleans should be the main mode of transportation for our fans!!!!

It's not cause we are an easy win for y'all 04-cheers. But seriously.... When I was walking around the stadium and back to the bus I was asking the fans if they were enjoying their stay/time here and they all replied that they loved being in Nola. Some really nice fans you had represent your school.

RE: ***Official Memphis @ Tulane Game Thread***
congrats Memphis.
You have a real football team. Disciplined, stick to what you're doing, wear 'em out.
Aside from some bad turnovers, the biggest difference in the game was 2 punters. Night and day. Changed field position all day. He should get an assist for the first pick 6. It was a 50 yard rocket that bounced immediately out of bounds. Even if Lee hadn't thrown that pass right in the defender's arms that route could have easily been jumped.
Both Ds were great; ours finally gave up.

Memphis fans...any thread over at your main board talking about the game day experience? Interested to read what your POV was on visiting the new stadium.

Memphis is definitely looking like the AAC's best team this year.

Light years better than the superdome. I bought parking online at ursline academy lot before going down so that part was fine and a short walk. I was impressed with the finish in the concourse and that the seating bowl was concrete instead of aluminum. The press box side is just too mashed up otherwise from the perspective of a guy with just a ticket I liked it Having teams walk through the concourse to get to locker room is not good and I've heard there are issues with the size of visiting locker rooms and the press areas and the stadium is way underlit once the sun went down. Having th he visiting post game interviews in a pop up tent isn't great

A very positive experience though. Congrats

Probably. It's a very active board. There are a bunch of Tulane threads.

Maybe it depends partly on where you were sitting. We were in section 125, row GG, near the top, in a corner of the end zone, with the student section to our right.

We were in total shade almost all day, and all of us got wind burn. Flags on the opposite end of the stadium from us flew all day, although not at full force. During practice before the game, kicked balls were moving noticeably in the wind, mostly side to side.

For FGs, punts and kickoffs, the wind was mostly sideways, but somewhat helping left to right kicks, from our vantage point. Some passes thrown from our right to left fluttered, and some thrown left to right were high. Same with some punts.

It was really obvious on Elliott's kickoffs. He was knocking kicks toward the student section 5 yards OUT of the back of the end zone, on the fly, even on low kicks. In the other direction, he was generally landing it at the goal line, to 5 yards deep.

Beyond that, as the game progressed, we moved downward and toward the 50. Wind became somewhat less later in game. I don't know if it's b/c we moved down, or it lessened.

Weather forecast was for winds of 9 mph at kickoff, with higher gusts. IMO, the equal height of the stadium bowl, plus buildings abutting the stadium walls, cause the wind, when it dips down into the bowl, to swirl at times.

Yesterday, I don't think the wind was anywhere near strong enough to affect the outcome of the game, but I do think it affected some passes and kicks.

Agree. They were never whipping. I didn't say they were. But they were unfurled the entire day, b/c I kept staring at them, and trying to figure out if it was having any effect. On our end, I think it was more obvious, b/c we could see where Elliott's kicks were landing on the fly.

Disagree. I think it was a freshman quarterback having a bad day against a good defense which was playing well. The game was very even statistically (except for turnovers) and I was nervous at halftime. Your young team will be a force to be reckoned with next year (# 77 is a beast). Congratulations on the on-campus stadium. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience - far better than the Superdome.

I'd go even further than "very even statistically"......Tulane had much better stats than us in total yards, first downs, and time of possession (T.O.P. was pretty close). I took a great deal of heart in the fact that we figured out a way to win even when we were somewhat out played. Forcing turnovers makes a big difference.

yes, the stats were in tulanes favor, but i never thought for a minute tulane would win that game. no offense to tulane, but memphis was just better across the board. i do think tulane has some very good young talent - they remind me a bit of us last season except they havent had to go through the roster trauma that fuente inherited. its mind boggling to think that fuente arrived with less than 60 scholorship players (and a lot of those were just fillers). its been a remarkable turnaround.
