For an F.S.U. Football Player, a Hit and Run Becomes Traffic Tickets
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/15/sports....html?_r=2

In the early morning hours of Oct. 5, as this college town was celebrating another big football victory by Florida State University, a starting cornerback on the team drove his car into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by a teenager returning home from a job at the Olive Garden.

Both cars were totaled. But rather than remain at the scene as the law requires, the football player, P. J. Williams, left his wrecked vehicle in the street and fled into the darkness along with his two passengers, including Ronald Darby, the team’s other starting cornerback.

The Tallahassee police responded to the off-campus accident, eventually reaching out to the Florida State University police and the university’s athletic department.

By the next day, it was as if the hit and run had never happened.

Top rules for a FBS P5 Head Coach:

1. Have the boosters on your side
2. Have the refs on your side
3. Have the cops on your side

FSU should know by now they are being watched for everything they do.

What's particularly damning (well a lot is damning) is that: 1) other football players showed up drunk to convince the injured driver that 'they had a lot on the line;' 2) that the call and incident were wiped from the police records (a 'technical glitch'); 3) that there is a decent chance the accident was related to a robbery which was ignored; 4) that the driver was never asked why he fled or whether he was drinking; 5) that the TPD called Florida State police without any reason to do so; 6) that the TPD lied to a reporter about the circumstances of the accident; and 7) that nothing will happen as a result of this.

Believe me, Wedge, I revised and retyped that list twice. I have the boosters on the top because they can buy the refs and cops easier than the coaches. Of course, a coach may need the refs more times than not.

OMG- this tweet from Stewart Mandel is priceless:
The people of Tallahassee would be in safer hands with Frank Drebin.
