They blamed him when they went up in 2012.

Obama hates oil and has been trying to get us all to go green. Why should we thank him for lowered gas prices?

Thanks Bush.

RE: Gas Prices Have Gone Way Down. Why Aren't Republicans Thanking Obama?
Because when the prices went up after Obama became President the lemmings told us that the price of gasoline had nothing to do with Obama. So now that the prices are going down they can't really give him credit unless they want to appear hypocritical.

Oh never mind.

Though I fundamentally believe that a US President has very little effect on the US economy, I also ascribe to the belief of 'on your watch.' As such I would have no problem with Obama counting this as a win if not for the fact that whenever negative things happened under his administration decided to blame the former POTUS.

RE: Gas Prices Have Gone Way Down. Why Aren't Republicans Thanking Obama?
I'll give Obama credit. In essentially every election since the first one, his control over Congress and the country has lessened. As a result, his policies have had increasingly less direct impact on things like this.

I tend to agree with your statement Vandiver with regard to oil prices... I made the above mostly because of how Obama and his supporters blamed everything on Bush.

The economy will always right itself because the companies that make up the economy naturally do that... but Presidents CAN make things better or worse.

If we hadn't spent trillions... things might have gotten worse, but they would also be far better now. The 'death' of many of the companies we bailed out would have created opportunities for numerous others who would have seized them... and we wouldn't be straddled with an additional 6 or however many trillion dollars in debt.

Exactly. I wouldn't actually give credit to Bush for this if he was still president, these are things that happen. I just blame Bush because for all of the miscues and screw ups by the dems, they like to blame those on Bush.

Gas is down, I'm ecstatic, I still don't support obama.

Here's to hoping that it keeps falling 04-cheers

This is the correct answer. Gas prices have nothing to do with Obama. 04-cheers

Republicans blamed Jimmy Carter 20+ years.

Gas prices are down in anticipation of the actions that will be taken by the Republican controlled Senate and House. It's the futures market, Twinkey.

Thanking Bush/Obama for lowered gas prices is f*cking absurd.... If anything I'd blame Bush for higher gas prices, but I can't thank Obama for lowered gas prices.

Actually not true. Shortly after Reagan got elected, there was little to continue to blame Carter for.

That's precisely Obama's problem. Unlike Reagan, he hasn't fixed (or hasn't fixed well) many of the things he blamed Bush for. If he had, Democrats would be happier with him than they are.

What Republicans did was remind people of the bad things that Carter did for 20 years. That's not the same thing

Gas prices go down before the election and back up afterward. It happens most elections.

Gas prices are down in spite of him, not because of him.
