I know the beginning of the year is fine with regards to weather, but I feel many locals and students sit in their houses and forms watching on ESPN. I know $$ is a huge factor with building the right kind of facility, but it sure would be nice to have something like that some times. Pipe dream I know, football is supposed to be played in the elements, but man it would be nice to have a loud hostile warm place for fans to go to. Think more people would show up?
Sure. I've sat in the last few cold games and a nice indoor facility would be perfect for the wind stricken deKalb.

If we were playing a big time opponent, I don't think having a dome or not would make a difference. I think it really only makes a big difference when we play teams like EMU

What exactly could Doeren have done better in the Orange Bowl than Carey? Carey out coached Fisher in that game.

I agree that Carey didn't do a bad job and Fisher could have built a bigger lead if he just ran the ball on us in the first half. But that doesn't mean having Doeren as the head coach doesn't help in other ways. Carey could have worked on more with his offensive game plan if he didn't have to take on all the things the head coach has to do-talk to the media, manage the whole team and coaches, communication issues, etc. and I don't think we would have won the game if Doeren stayed. But it sure would have been nice to see.
Side note: I also know that Doeren made mistakes during games, just as most coaches do. I just think he made better decisions and the team seemed better prepared during his 2 years vs. Carey's 2 years. Then again, if he had to work with a qb not named Harnish or Lynch, the team might not have looked so good either. I just liked his presence during games and with the media.

The overarching point really is that it's all speculation. You can't know, I can't know, we'll never know. So it's just kinda specious thinking.

I think it might have been a positive factor if Coach D was there coaching for the OB. The team would have gone into that bowl game in tact as a whole team and coaching staff, the coach that got them there in the first place. It's easy for me to guess or speculate that the team might have had some questions marks about a new coach going into the biggest game in Huskie History, not a stretch for me to believe that. Now if it was true or not is "we'll never know" scenario. I would have like to seen coach D at that game behind the wheel, and I like Carey. Either way, we were in that game until "The Drive" happened. Beat Ohio....
