Murder is more common in Latin America than in any other part of the world.

Thirty-four of the 50 worst cities were located in the region, including repeat murder capital of the world — San Pedro Sula, Honduras — which saw 187 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in 2013 and is getting steadily worse. A full one-third of global homicides occur in Latin America even though the region has just 8% of the world's population, according to United Nations data.

And I'm not surprised that the progressive enclaves of the US (Detroit, St. Louis, Baltimore and NEW orleans) led the list, although I am surprised not see Chicago.

St. Louis is no. 45? No wonder they were trying to recruit new immigrants (American). Everyone is probably leaving.

RE: The most violent cities in the World
I'm surprised we're behind New Orleans and Baltimore to be honest, as we had the highest murder rate in the United States last year beating out Detroit by a small number.

Wow, I always felt much of St.Louis was safe and East St.Louis was the Danger Zone. Got off in East St.Louis by mistake on a Friday night when I-64 first opened in 1978 from Louisville. Took an hour getting back to the Expressway. Police stopped Us and asked What the Hell are We doing there. We told Them We were lost and They led us to the on ramp about 5 miles away. Said We stood out in the crowd and lucky We weren't robbed or worse. We wound up at a neat live music club in St Louis called Mississippi nights.

LOL, That came out not long after We returned home. Remember to Always cross the River first. Even when signs say stuff like Broadway, 1st st. Ect. We did stop in a lounge when My buddy went in to get directions. After 20 minutes I locked Our dates in the car and went in to check up on Him. He had 3 large ladies hugging on Him and other folks sitting around the bar. Someone shouted "Another One ". I thought Uh oh, but They said to join Them. A few moments later I brought Our dates in and We had a couple of rounds. They were older folks and said We were the only Whites to ever come in there. It opened around 1940. So There are a lot of good folks out there in East St. Louis too.
