"...keep away from Northern Illinois"
Says a Syracuse blog writer in reference to how Syracuse should schedule its non-conference games.

http://www.nunesmagician.com/2014/11/13/...-will-work

"One MAC School. You can mix and match but keep away from Northern Illinois. When in doubt, stick to the directional Michigans, Akron, Kent State and UMass."

You can run, but you can't hide SU.

Love the comment and agree that would help the program in the long term.

I did find it funny though that there was no inclusion or mention of Toledo who was an officials bad call away from beating them in their own place.

Toledo was included by its omission.

RE: "...keep away from Northern Illinois"
Here's his choices for OOC:
Quote:Bad Power Conference School. Those options include Iowa State, Kansas, Purdue, Indiana, Colorado, Arkansas and Vanderbilt.

Arkansas? Dude, they'll KILL YOU. Arkansas is not a bad P5 school. They're a sub-par SEC team in the toughest division in the land. They play everyone close. You'd be destroyed. The author obviously didn't read up.

Quote:One FCS School. And not a good one like Villanova. A mediocre one, at best. Who cares? We don't get any credit for beating a "better" FCS school? Lock Colgate in and move on.

I agree. Except ND State. That would look good on the record if you won & it wasn't too close. But yes, stay away from ranked D1AAs if you want a weak OOC that doesn't hurt you too much. No sense in getting a good FCS.

Quote:One MAC School. You can mix and match but keep away from Northern Illinois. When in doubt, stick to the directional Michigans, Akron, Kent State and UMass.

True, keep away from NIU. Or Toledo. But they aren't so mix-n-match, though. To be safe: EMU + Anyone in the East besides BGSU

Quote:Army. Is there anything more common sense than this? They're in New York. They're terrible. They give you tons of excuses to trot our your Fort Drum PR blitz. And if they're busy, schedule Navy. But preferably, Army.

Yeah, but it hurts your SoS. You mine as well do another MAC school like Kent alongside EMU. I guess for a sense of "better" from fans and op-ed writers & not analysts, OK. Sure, they're a good pick. Navy? They're solidly better than Army. Don't compare them. Navy on a good year will beat you.

of course, if anyone else was writing that blog, Syracuse would be included in the list of bad power conference teams.

I thought the same thing. Syracuse would get throttled.

Like student loans, there is no getting away from the Huskies.
