Yeah, there's really no set of circumstances that should ever lead to us losing to CBU. None.

I don't know wtf is going on but they better get it together quick

Frankly, I gave up on Josh several years ago, and have been just waiting for reality to set in. Not gonna be pretty, not gonna be a quick fix. At my age, I just gotta sit back and wait and see what unfolds.

Apparently that's what's called the intrasquad scrimmage.

You realize we should've been able to just play basketball and win this game, right ? We should have that much higher level of talent and athleticism. We shouldn't even get into the "the bigs have to do this" and "the guards need to do that" business with a game like this.

Do you realize HOW FOULED UP things have to be for us to lose this game ?

if you hate Memphis so much, why do you continue to post your drivel

The only thing he hates is what just happened.

We all hate what just happened. But sh!t happens....we deal with it. 27 threads? Not helping. Bet other schools are having a blast laughing about this loss, but I also bet they are laughing about this meltdown harder.

O no..I haven't taken stock...lol...you mean there's actually 27 threads on this? Let's pull an all nighter.

RE: We Just Lost to CBU
I was at the game and the guards were pretty bad. Second big concern was the incredibly shoddy ball handling, the 21 turnovers. Third was free throws. At halftime, I posted on another thread about the TAMMS already coming out on attack. After the game, I now say: "Post away, folks. The criticism for this truly poor effort and result is deserved."

Plenty of opportunity for improvement, to be sure.

Next up - top 10 ranked Wichita State on national television from balmy South Dakota.

Our program will the butt of a lot of jokes and derision for sure. You simply don't lose games to D2 teams if you're any good at all.

So, yeah right now, tonight, the team stinks.

As the guard play improves, and it will, the team will get better.

I had no idea what a mess this team was though until this game.

Making the tournament looks a whole lot farther away than it did a few hours ago.....

It happens all the time in preseason games, especially with teams searching for chemistry. So we lost to CBC in a game that meant nothing except to prepare us for the regular season and sell a few extra tickets. Get off the ledge man. Sometimes a loss like this is the best thing that can happen to a team.

Keep telling yourself that....I have for the last two years. He's a great guy but JP is a perfect assistant coach.

In an ideal world you bring in Pearl as head and convince JP to be lead assistant.

That will never happen but it would be a great combo

Hasn't happened in 28 years for us. The last time we did lose one we fired our coach.

RE: We Just Lost to CBU
Hopefully we learned what should be learned from this game: Stregths and weaknesses of guys we have never had in Memphis Unis, how guys do/don't play well together, styles of defense that do/don't work with our players.

Hard to gauge offense this early. Hard to assess indivual player's motivation in a game that doesn't matter. Hard to say we put forth a solid gameplan.

Yes, losing to CBU hurts. It hurts much like Kentucky losing to Gardner Webb (spoiler alert: they bounced back). We lost a game that hurts. We have room for improvement. Let the coaching and hard work begin. The sky isn't falling. Channel your Memphis love in a good way. What can YOU do to help?

There's is never a situation where we should lose any game to CBU. It's unacceptable. There's not a single player on their team who would even make our roster.
