MBB Recruiting
We just picked up a significant player for the class of 2015. Kevin Roland from Amelia Academy (VA) and is on Boo Williams team.
Had many different offers including Oklahoma State, and many others were starting to show interest including Louisville and Maryland. One of the top players in the entire state.

Yes been keeping an eye on the kid, pretty legit, has a lot of raw tools to be successful in any level of D1 basketball. Brady got a steal, I can see our perimeter in 2 years giving other teams hell.

It's really great to see good news piling up in various JMU sports over the last month. When is signing day for Basketball? I hope we can keep this kid committed.

No open scholarships for 15 so I guess they are banking on someone leaving or going off scholarship.

RE: MBB Recruiting
With one recruit Brady answers all his critics- Virginia recruit, Boo Williams AAU, standing vertical jump of 41 inches, high major recruit- was just at Oklahoma State's version of March Madness- looks to be an absolute steal- I guess the "lame duck" status many on the board saddled Brady with didn't hurt him here. Looks like the coaching staff really worked hard to close this deal- nice job! What I like about it is he was a 2016 kid now he appears to be 2015 but JMU has other offers and scholarships for 2016 in state and I would think Roland's commitment could help JMU land another player or two from Virginia for 2016.

RE: MBB Recruiting
Well with our track record on guys leaving we shouldn't have a problem with scholarships available, in the past 2 seasons we have had a lot of guys leave, expect at least 1 or 2 guys to leave most likely 1 though. The kid reminds me a bit of D white. Brady is not off the hook with me until he gets his house in order once the kids get on campus, he has had some great classes before but many problems once guys on campus. However I do think he is startibg to tweek some stuff and chips are falling his way. He is the coach we have and is a lot better than some in the business, also a class act. I am behind the men's and women's programs and hope for s great year!

Agreed- I was just commenting on the recruiting criticisms- White was one example of an in state athlete but Brady is often criticized for recruiting kids that no other programs want from places out of state of out of country- plus there have been some suggestions that even though he is under contract and just signed an extension 1 1/2 years ago that he would have trouble getting commits because he may be on thin ice at JMU.
The one thing about the scholarship- I'm sure someone will leave or get recruited over- it's the way of the world in college hoops today- but I do think it's unusual this early to know that you are +1- they may know and even the kids may know- I don't want to speculate but maybe its even a positive thing where someone very smart is on track to graduate early - but it looks to be a case of a kid they were high on for 16 where something unusual happened in terms of his status and they went for it.

That's the transition when you hire an out of state coach with no ties to VA. The trails Brady did go to brought JMU some pretty good talent so I am not one to complain. Brady has ran a very clean program( house is in order ), I think most of Brady's problems stemmed from his personality and the way he wanted JMU Bball to play. We have had a couple of selfish players who just were hardheaded. We seem to have a very good group this year.

Looks (potentially) like the best true Freshman recruit Brady has ever signed.

It was a nice trick in lowering the goal by 6".

RE: MBB Recruiting
Based on video (I know, I know), this kid is Brady's best recruit so far.
Freakish athleticism, good handles (left and right hand), good vision, willing to post up, can separate and finish, soft hands, good shooting form. Seems to like D as well, which is refreshing on the HS level.
For those of you knocking the competition in the video, A LOT of it was against VES. They have back to back 24-5 seasons, and 5 D1 prospects. Not THAT shabby.

RE: MBB Recruiting
He looks like a terrific prospect...only criticism I have is that he needs to work on his handle, just as the article points out. Don't recall JMU ever going over its allotment in signing someone, but it's worth it for this guy and someone is likely to leave on his own probably.

RE: MBB Recruiting
Nice player. He has a real bad habit of falling backward after his jump shot. Real far backward. Needs to work hard on breaking that bad habit.
