The commissioner works for the Presidents of the schools in the conference, no? Given that, I'm not sure that it makes sense for him to come out and say anything remotely controversial regarding UAB unless UAB's president was OK with it. My guess is, he wouldn't be.

The Commissioner should come out and say that if UAB drops football the Blazers will have to find another conference home. Put the pressure on the decision makers.

Personally love being in the same conference but never liked the idea of being in a conference with non-football playing members.
