RE: College Hoops Early Signings
We currently have a Top 5 class committed for 2015:
Per Scout rankings:
Donovan Mitchell - 5-Star SG
Raymond Spalding - 4-Star PF
Deng Adel - 5-Star SF
I believe Adel signed his LOI today, not sure about the other two.

Don't know about others, but the few kids Duke and Carolina are interested in (pretty much top 20 talent) are among the uncommitted players who will probably wait to see which blue blood programs will lose players to the NBA. Carolina, in particular, can't sign more than one or two without having a scholarship limit problem, since they aren't projected to lose many players this year from a very deep roster.

FSU signed a to #4-#6 class.
1-2 five star players and the rest 4 star for the most part.
Unreal class for FSU.

Duke has apparently signed Chase Jeter (#9 on ESPN100). He is a 6'-10" center from Las Vegas and one of 18 players ranked as Five Stars bu ESPN. They also signed previously committed Luke Kennard, rated #26 by ESPN. He is a 6'5" shooting guard from Ohio.
That brings Duke roster to 12 scholarship players next year, before accounting for early departures. Jahlil Okafor has already said he plans to leave, and freshman PG Tyus Jones could also go if he is as good as his press clippings.
Carolina has no commits or signees to date. The Heels return 11 players from this year's squad, one of whom is a walk on this year due to a shortage of available scholarships.

We have already had a thread about Manning's early success on the recruiting trail. But here's a quick recap if you missed it.
He picked up three 4 star recruits Bryant Crawford (pg), Doral Moore (center) and John Collins (power forward). We also know Anthony Bilas, son of ESPN commentator Jay Bilas, will join the team as a walk on.

That's surprising, since this kid isn't apparently being heavily recruited and UNC has so few scholarships to give. That may indicate that Roy Williams doesn't expect to get his five star targets this year. He may also be taking heat from his administration, if some of those five stars are zero stars in the classroom. Heels' recruits will be under a microscope for a while. Maye had offers from Davidson, Notre Dame and Gonzaga, so I'm guessing grades are not a problem.

I'm puzzled by NC State this year. After two solid recruiting classes, the Wolfpack has no commits for the class of 2015, despite having plenty of scholarships available. They will only return 8 scholarship players from this year's team.
Their only offers are to five star players, all ranked in ESPN's top 12. Realistically, their best shot would be with Brandon Ingram, a North Carolina kid. State is still on Ingram's short list, but the other finalists are Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, UNC and UCLA.
I wonder if he is looking to pick up some more transfers (all three of his upperclassmen are transfers). But unless they are graduates with only one year of eligibility left, that won't help for next year.

UNC could be very good next year with all that returning experience

The three who graduate (or at least use up their eligibility) aren't starters. Still, you don't like to have a recruiting year that's a bust. Maye's father was a highly recruited QB for Carolina who had an injury to his throwing elbow early in his career. He was still good, but didn't have the arm strength needed for the NFL. I'm sure loyalty (both ways) had a lot to do with his committing to the Heels.

Do any of our State fans have any insight into their hoops recruiting? It looks like they finally turned the corner when it comes to quality depth, with ten interchangeable parts this year. I hope they don't fall back. Does Gottfried prefer a short rotation?
