That's a game that is normally 20,000+ at KSU that will be lucky to draw 10k.

Tuesday is better than Friday for that week. At least you have a shot of the regional kids staying for the game then going home.

We definitely had better attendance last year vs WMU on Tuesday than we did on Friday vs EMU a few years prior.

Maybe cause the MAC wanted rivalry Tuesday? Miami hosts OU that same night.

Everybody go turn on their TVs and go to ESPN2. Cincy is hosting East Carolina, it's only the 2nd quarter, it's a 3-point ballgame...and the crowd looks like a MACtion crowd. I guess we're not the only ones suffering.

Technically you are wrong. The Akron / UMass game was always slated for ESPNU / ESPN3. The other game that night, NIU / Ohio, was also announced with the same coverage. ESPN picked the better game, NIU / Ohio for ESPNU which pushed the Akron game to ESPN3.

The broader point here though is why the heck is the MAC allowing ESPN to put Tuesday night games on ESPN3. Usually it is ESPN2 / ESPNU. You can argue in favor of playing a Tuesday night game if the game is on ESPN2 or even to a lesser degree ESPNU. However if these midweek games start getting pushed to ESPN3 that is a huge bust in the deal. So you basically destroy your fan base to play midweek games for exposure. Then you don't even get the exposure because you are buried on some streaming internet channel. This better not be what the next 13 years are going to look like in this league. And to top it off, ESPN is showing some early season whatever college basketball tournament instead of football on ESPN2. That is a terrible deal.

Yea, playing midweek on ESPN3 should NEVER happen. What's the point?

For the gamblers...that's it.

The choice should be ESPN2 or ESPNU, not ESPNU or ESPN3.

I thought that the shots of the crowd at the UMASS game last night looked good on TV.

Far cry from the 41,000 plus for the Miami at UC game back in week 4, also at PBS.

Weeknight games in November will only stick with the top 10 programs or so. Any G5 school would be very hard pressed to get close to their average attendance for games played on weeknights in 30-40 degree weather. jmo.

I lived in Cincy and when I went To KSU there was a 10-15 degree difference on average. In Cincy, I think it was in the upper 20s last night.

RE: MACtion Tonight
I thought the UMass game looked very good on TV was colors were sharp, uniforms looked great, field was well lit. The attendance did not look that bad, but they didn't show too many shots of the stands and certainly not of the whole stadium.

It's my opinion that midweek games are great national exposure, they do throw a wrench in the works when it comes to attendance sometimes but there has to be some trade off.

My real issue is why the F there are games only available online. (I'm sick of calling it ESPN3) On saturday's when all the channels are taken up by other games i'm fine with games streaming but not midweek, might as well have them on Saturday! When i stream the video onto a bigscreen it isn't nearly as good as through cable.

Now what is really going to suck is when UMass is independent with NO TV deal whatsoever. But we will always have that 2015 Mac Championship to look back on.[/align]

I wish there was a way to make UMass in the MAC work.

Yup, but doubt it will happen. Our BB season opened tonight, attendance 8,187 in a 95-87 win over Siena.
