another Big 12 rumor from sports radio 810...
Lord forgive me for posting this, but I know you all love expansion rumors.

yes it does feel like groundhog day.

Sports radio was talking that the BIG 12 is currently looking at 4 possible schools for expansion.

The Schools are: BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado State, and some texas school.

This is second hand from a friend who called me when he was listening. He can't remember which texas school was mentioned, but from the wording, this isnt a rumor about expansion, and then 4 schools the radio hosts want, but the schools are part of the rumor.

...discuss...

RE: another Big 12 rumor from sports radio 810...
The first three would make sense - I like Colorado St to Big 12 - they are a AAU school if I am remembering right, and have done decently, as well as would give Big 12 back access to that market. But would they go without Air Force or others from MWC?

Also, I don't see a Texas school right now that would appeal to the Big 12: Houston is down, and SMU is awful. Rice could work but is not there yet, and I don't think UTEP or N Texas would be a good choice either. UTSA maybe down the road. Same with Texas State.

Where is Sports Radio 810 based out of?

Your wording is throwing me off.. are the four teams the teams rumored or are they the teams the host wants?

Yes...any MW team would leave for a Big 12 invite. No MW team will leave for another G5 conference.

Saying another Texas team is in the mix just made it even less credible, if there is any credibilty.

Yes I agree another texas school would be very weird, but just reporting what I hear

Air Force didn't (note they weren't invited, but they turned down even the overture/inquiry).

I agree with your sentiments otherwise, but just pointing it out

The 3 would make sense. Colorado St and BYU would be travel partners. Cincy would be a travel partner for WVU.

The Texas part is weird.

OK...yeah...Air Force is the exception because they aren't able to recruit like other schools.
So to rephrase....Every MW team except Air Force will take a Big 12 invite.

FWIW, CSU is a very good public university but they're not AAU.

Unless, there is some analysis going on to take Univ of Houston to take away some of that market that Tex A&M holds. Sort of trying to diminish the SEC in-roads and make it more Big 12 market than SEC.

Yeah, I think that is one of their goals though

Why in the world would they need another Texas School? CSU, BYU, Cinci make sense but I would think UCONN, ECU or UCF would make sense to at least have two other schools partnered with WVU.

UConn just doesn't make sense at all. Location is just awful for the Big 12. Memphis would make a lot more sense than UConn quite frankly.

Thanks for the correction! I don't know why I thought they were.

RE: another Big 12 rumor from sports radio 810...
I find this thread amusing. First off, the Big 12 may or may not be trying to close out an island school and bring them further into the fold. So how do they do that? They add schools on the other side of the conference. Brilliant. 03-nutkick

Now Colorado State is possible but by going the distance to BYU and then drawing a line back across the country to WVU, you'll come up with all those barbs that where thrown at the Old Big East for trying something like this. Further more another Texas school???? 04-jawdrop 01-wingedeagle 03-lmfao

Please forgive my lack of understanding as I laugh for a while. 03-lmfao

I've said it before and I'll write it again; No school adds enough value for expansion unless the Big 12 drops the LHN and goes to a true Conference Network. Then almost any school will add value as long as, it's expanding the conferences footprint.

The only reason why would be the Houston market. Since A&M have a majority of the market and thus an SEC market, having UH as a Big 12 member would give part of that market back to the Big 12.
