Let's see if they can take over in Q4 and run it down Toledo's throat. If so they are OK but they have not dominated games this year.

Wouldn't someone have to be saying they're good for them to be overrated?

RE: Is our offensive line overrated?
Game Stats:

Yards: Toledo 472, NIU 416
- Rush Yards: Toledo 263, NIU 226
- Pass Yards: Toledo 209, NIU 190

Yards/Rush: Toledo 5.4, NIU 4.9
Comp/PCT: Toledo 12/23 (52.2%)*, NIU 14/22 (63.6%)

*Macon: 8/11 (72.7%), 97 rushing yards, 5.4 yards/carry

Overall, I'm Very happy they didn't start Macon -- that's all I gotta say. Well, and Toledo's punter wasn't good most of the game that helped, too. Field position, field position... Good job guys! I wouldn't get too excited though. Ohio looked kinda decent in their last game. Be prepared.

They also looked atrocious in over half the other ones.

With an extra week to get ready they will be better, but talent wise, NIU has a good advantage.

I expect a very quick tempo next week and lots of exterior play by the huskies.

Considering the OL probably doesn't have an NFL talent player I think they are doing pretty well. I hope there are some under classmen with more talent (maybe Meyers?) to take them to the next level next year. I'm not sure if it mattered but remember Toledo had an extra day of rest this week. From what I saw I don't think it mattered, but if there is any place it would have it would be the big uglies on the line.

Considering 80 of those yards were in the last 3 minutes when we were playing a complete prevent...it's pretty even.

We actually eventually adjusted to Macon very well, I don't think there was much else he was going to do.

It seems the imply they're good because they've been together as a unit for so long. That get's old. An experienced line helps, but experienced mediocre players are still mediocre.

NIU is 12th in the country in rushing yards. They have a good offensive line.

They are really good at their gap scheme blocking, which is why they can pound teams in the 4th quarter with Stingily and Hare can do that weird-ass skunk waddle he does for 4 yards every time on the read.

They struggle with zone blocking, especially getting on linebackers. That s*#^head from Ball St had about 3000 tackles last week because he never seemed need to shed a block all night. That was a huge problem against CMU, whose backers work against the best zone blocking O-line in the conference every day.

They're probably not as great as they've shown the last two years because HIM was in the backfield and scared the s*^t out of everyone. This year, with our QB play decidedly average, they've made lemonade with lemons.

The last two weeks, with the game on the line, they've gotten the drives they needed to put the boot on the opposition and pull the trigger. When they work to their strengths, they're the best in the conference. When they get forced out of their comfort zone, they look very average.

I'd like to see our offensive emphasis return to being physical, physical, physical. I'm not saying I want Stingily to run "power" every play of the game, but I feel like we've slowly gotten away from that in the last few years. If you watched Minnesota over the weekend against Iowa, you saw our old offense (which could be predictable as hell) but Limegrover's guys left Iowa beat to s^*t. I think that physical emphasis has gotten a little lost at times, even though I generally like our offense better under Doeren/Carey. They definitely benefited from having Kill lay that physical groundwork before them.

Carey prefers the gap scheme stuff, but we're not quite so good at executing the other stuff to keep defenses honest. Plus, even if we got soft, the Jordan Lynch MurderDeathMachine masked it.

This team will take a true team effort to keep winning. The Vern Smith doesn't feel like it's coming back down Annie Glidden road this year. Hopefully, they can get the job done.

Who exactly would be the favorite to win it at this point? My guess would be the RB from WMU.
