Louisville QB Will Gardner out for the year
Tough break for the young man:

Louisville starting quarterback Will Gardner will miss the rest of the season because of a left knee injury that will require surgery, the school announced Tuesday.

Gardner, a redshirt sophomore, suffered the injury in the Cardinals' 38-19 win Saturday at Boston College.

"It is really unfortunate and disappointing for Will because of how hard he has worked and how respected he is in the locker room," coach Bobby Petrino said in a release. "Will will continue to be an integral part of our program moving forward because of his leadership he has displayed and the respect he has in the locker room."

Gardner has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his other knee twice before, but rebounded this year to replace first-round pick Teddy Bridgewater and help lead Louisville to a 7-3 record, including a 5-3 mark in ACC play, the program's first year in the league.

Not sure that he should. He is a great man & had the potential to be a great QB but with all the knee injuries it may be time to hang them up. Thanks Will for being a Card, L1C4. Keep him on scholarship until he graduates. We have other options next season for QB. Its Bonnafons time to shine!

how is the backup?

I thought you guys had enough weapons around the QB, that a new guy stepping in should do just fine

He came in against BC & had his best game of the season. Having Parker back & Dyer performing well has helped them both out. Earlier in the season, the first time Gardner went out, true freshman Bonnafon had just returned to practice after his father passed. Understandably it has been a tough last few months for him. It couldnt have been easy after playing only 1 season at QB in high school then missing 9 days of practice for the funeral then being told that he was starting against Wake & at Clemson. He played almost 3/4 at BC last weekend to lead the Cards back in the game & the 38-19 win.
