Syracuse.nyc.

I wish I could take credit for this, but @notadimeback really cashed in on the new .nyc domain names (and grabbed uconn.nyc as a defensive measure).

Oh please. I was there, we had 15k for our fourth season of horrific football against an equally horrific opponent. How do you explain your USC game, which had maybe 3-5,000 more in attendance?

You are all wrong.

Army is New York's team. See the Army-Notre Dame games back in the day. The 1946 battle of the titans is still talked about more in the press than any Syracuse or UConn game.

If any of you listen to the Solid Verbal podcast, you would know that Fordham is NYC's college team.

So here's a stupid question from an uninformed/dumb southerner.......

Why would UConn have any claim to being NYC's team? I'm not saying that you aren't NYC's favorite team because it's obviously an emotional big deal but I just don't understand the connection other than being a neighboring state.

It's in response to Syracuse claiming to be NYC's team even though Syracuse is about 250 miles away. Storrs, CT is actually about 100 miles closer to the city. Also, southwest Connecticut (Fairfield County) is included in the NYC DMA. That's about 1 million Connecticut residents.

Cuse and UCONN easily had the best representation during the BE tournament at MSG. The battle/claim for NYC is just part of that old mentality.

Well said Husky...Storrs is closer and on the fringe of what NY'ers call the Tri-State Area but Syracuse is in state and has the bigger fan base inside the City limits. Just two old frenemies marking the same fire hydrant.

Thank you for the kind words. I am not ready for conference play until Army can prove itself competitive in that environment. The scars of C-USA are not healed yet. 04-cheers

But if Army must join a conference to remain in FBS, I wish to join the AAC. It has Navy and the name is American! Even if the MAC would be a better choice from a competition standpoint.
