RE: There are legitimate concerns about 2015
I can't believe that less than one year after the trip to the finals there are people here who already have the program dead and buried.
I can't wait for the basketball threads in February

RE: There are legitimate concerns about 2015
I haven’t been as active this year because there really doesn’t seem to be anything that I thought was up and coming. It was pretty much the same thing all year with the exception of the Delaware game. Even a sub-par team can put together one solid performance.
I think the Defense is probably good enough to win with this year for the most part but the linebackers are just too light and young. They just cannot make enough big plays or plays for negative yardage. Yesterday our D line got dominated by W&M, worse than any other opponent this year and I thought our lack of size at LB really showed up. The D line did not hold up and there was really nothing else to stop the run at that point. I’m just surprised after a successful last 3 years they didn’t have any type of size in their backups. Not one. I will say this about the Gordy years versus the RA years, that Gordy seemed to recruit better linebackers than RA if you don’t include transfers.
The offense has not changed since game one in that this has to be the worse passing game I can remember. Victor is a fine player and just think of how bad this team would be with just an average back. When I reflect back on this season, I think every team we faced this year had a better quarterback than us. I would take CCSU’s QB in a heartbeat. You can’t tell me there has not been one Maryland High School QB that did not get a big time Division 1-A offer that we could have here. I just find this hard to believe. QB is the most important position in the game whether you like it or not. How can the recruiting be this lame for a QB. The atrocious passing game, with nothing improving for 11 weeks now, just demoralizes everyone. I understand the O line had issues. Notwithstanding these issues, the running game still seemed to be productive. Nevertheless, each week the opposing team plays close to 11 in the box all game long because there is a zero percent chance of Towson putting together any consistent passing game.

this team stunk the entire year. a lot is on the coaches. also on the players. injuries freshmen and other problems are just EXCUSES. man up and get better.. this team got worse. ambrose did a terrible job the entire season, as did his staff especially on defense. cant find a qb? come on! this team quit yesterday too. wm is good but they aren't 21-0 with 12 yards a play in the first quarter on the road good.
and 2006 is a tool and a disgrace to the university. I cant believe we have someone like ryan king white "teaching" at our institution. especially educating a good bit of these football and basketball players.

RE: There are legitimate concerns about 2015
Given that this is a sports board, I think 2006 needs to take his agenda to another board. We are all pro football at Towson and disagree with his comments.
Expressing frustration about the play of the team/fan support is not a bad thing. We all want better for Towson. No one on this board wants to move down to Division 11/111 or get rid of football like 2006.
Getting back to the game, the defense was awful yesterday in the first half. We only stopped William&Mary once from scoring. Even last year we can thank the offense for scoring 40-50 points a game. The defense has been poor the last 5 years under Ambrose. It's time for a coaching change on defense. We do not have West anymore so we cannot rely on our offense scoring 40-50 points in the future.

2006 should be able to voice his opinions here if he wants. But he should know that the majority of us here do not agree with him, nor ever will. For the former players, football and other sports, him being a professor at TU and holding the opinions he does is hardly a surprise. Depressing that that feeling is still around at Towson, but it is something that has existed since I was there 20 years ago.

I'm tired of reading this **** because it's one sided and unfair and you've completed destroyed this thread and everything I've worked for 13 years to try to get people to enjoy and talk about Towson sports. Enough is enough.
Hang in there Matt and keep fighting the good fight! We have a couple of these on our boards too and we get it - that's the popular position of 75% + of faculty members at every level nationwide. You guys have done amazing turning both programs around and speaking from personal experience, I've worked with a TU grad in his late 40's, couple of kids, huge sports fan for the last five years and he's gone from sort of knowing what's going on to genuinely being depressed about this year's team. To me, that's good progress on your part!

i dont always hate 2006's comments, he does bring up many good counterpoints.
however as a small private college and college park grad it does bring light to why many of his comments are the way they are. in a state which has always been a one party (school) system (umd) with token academic private competitors (hopkins, loyola, gtown) i can understand why he thinks the way he does. in his mind and most people in the state of maryland, umd is the only school worth supporting for athletics and if you care of academic you would go to a private school. towson in no way should or could compete with almighty that is the twerps programs. in his mind it is not worth creating a strong in state rivalry between two state schools.

Maybe if you made everyone use their real names on this site instead of hiding behind screen names they wouldn't be so quick to say the things they do!!!
A lot of email/message board courage on here which is pretty cowardly for the most part.
Obviously there a few of us that stand behind what we say with our real names
Hey Buggs, it is Luke. Does this board want to hear my opinion? Hope all is well.

RE: There are legitimate concerns about 2015
Towson had a bad year and should have finished stronger, but the program is getting better. Unless there is some news being kept from the public? I really don't see how we have regressed back to 2007-08 in one season.
Things need to be fixed just not sure what. I think we should have done much better defensively this season than we did because we still had good experience on D.
Need improvement at QB too. If someone comes in and beats out Frazier, I think he'll still be an integral part of the game as he was when Athens was QB.

Can never forget the E. Washington game. If I could have seen into the future I would have paid the $1000 - $1200 (Holiday Weekend price) for a plane ticket. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33V1mUwujPw
