Good lord...right off the bat. "GP you need to come to the American media days. It's the best conference in the country."

Conditioning and defense have been an emphasis this past spring, summer and pre-season.

Maybe in C-USA that statement was obligatory.

But that statement about the AAC has much more teeth.

First year in existence as the AAC the conference wins both the men's and women's titles.

Doesn't mean the CONFERENCE is the best. Unless the addition of Tulane, ECU and Tulsa put the American over the hump.

Perhaps, as you note, it would have been smarter to invite GP to the conference with reigning NCs.

Curious answer about filling the class.

He is to the Grizz what RC is to the airport.

"Kids should come to Memphis because we have the Grizz in our backyard."

Hope all the Grizz haters heard that.

I would love to hear that interview. If he improved his interview skills, that is a very good thing.

So he suppose to pump up some other conference? Calipari use to pimp CUSA and how amazing UAB and Larry Eustachy Southern Miss teams were . "they should be in the tournament if those guys up there knew anything about basketball.

" we get no better competition than any league out there from all of these teams in CUSA"

Why do people hate the Grizzlies? I don't understand that type of thinking. I prefer college over Pro but the Grizzlies are good for the city and the college.

After the last four years, there are very few passengers left on that train.

Salukiblue just because he said that about the Grizz is not gonna make me like Pro-Basketball.. I never have liked the Pro game!! No doubt that the Grizz being here helps in many ways but there is nothing in the Pro game that appeals to me at all.. I have friends that love them and some that don't.. I don't hate them I just don't care about Pro Basketball!!

Agree.

Funny that you can take potshots at the University of Memphis, but you better not disrespect the Grizzlies.

There have been real issues with the Grizzlies in the past...talking off court issues...with scheduling and forum maintenance for our games. They also sucked a lot.

They have remedied all of that...much to their credit. From a moribund franchise that treated its star tenant poorly, to a model franchise that has also improved on the court. Kudos to them. Hopefully the fans who support them now because they are a good team, will continue to support them when they are not, but continue to treat the
university more respectfully and continue their charitable work. The real problem is that many will not.

I have always preferred college basketball over NBA, and probably over any other sport period. See the other hundred or so threads on Skal and Cal and UNC and Syracuse and Anthony Davis and Shabazz and conference realignment and strict liability and whatever else as to why it is probably behind MLB, NFL, NBA, and maybe even NCAA football now.
