The public system is going to be, if it isn't already, the leading source of inequality moving forward.

Anybody with a clue and the cash is putting their kids in private schools, and if you have more cash even better private schools. Meanwhile, the poor continue to languish behind stuck in ****** public schools. The same people campaigning for equality and economic access like to forget about this fact. And, make no mistake, it is a fact.

The poor will only get poorer, not because of unfairness, racism, or anything else but because the public education monopoly robbed them of a future by miring itself in bureaucracy, politics, and powerful special interests. Attempts to take otherwise undeserving children, such a affirmative action, will only result in the less qualified and capable among us being promoted to positions of power while lacking the skills required. In that instance they suffer, and so does everybody else.

Money is huge issue.

What, you're saying that public schools don't get enough?? You kidding me? In fact, the public schools that are least successful (large urban schools) are the ones funneled the most money, ie. they have the highest expenditure per pupil - and it makes no difference.

Many public schools turn out students that are prepared for college or whatever else the student wants to do. It's just not in places where large swaths of the parents don't give a sh!t.

No. What I am saying is that many of the people who need education the most don't have the money to go to private school.

Right. So give them vouchers, correct? Let them choose where they want to go, or where they want their children to go. You are pro choice, are you not?

So you want to give the money for education directly to the people? How exactly is that going to work?

What happens to private schools that are suddenly inundated with hundreds of kids who haven't learned how to read and write properly?

What happens to the parents of those students who have been their all along? Do they keep them there or move them somewhere else?

Well they could be inundated with applications yes. Would they all get in, of course not. But why haven't these kids learned how to read and write properly if they've been in our gov't run schools all this time?

It would simultaneously allow those kids that take their schooling seriously, put in the time and HAVE learned to read and write properly the ability to get out of a place where they aren't teaching properly, and force the gov't run school to improve to attract/keep their students.

Why is our k-12 gov't schools the only place on Gods green earth where competition for "customers" isn't allowed or is frowned upon?

Everyone else either sinks or swims, these schools? They just trundle along, producing a subpar product at exorbitant prices.

There are many, many reasons why children don't learn to read as well as others. Usually, it's some sort of learning disorder. I guess those kids are shite out of luck in your system because they won't be accepted.

Sink or swim you say?

Brilliant. Let's just give up on those kids who are socially and academically late bloomers or are in poverty and cannot afford the kinds of pre school toys and stimulation that rich people can afford.

The hateful b##$% got fired. Hallelujah....

Quote:DUNCANVILLE, Texas – A Dallas-area school board fired a teacher Friday who posted racially charged tweets about the fatal shooting of a black 18-year-old by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.

Duncanville Independent School District trustees unanimously voted to terminate Vinita Hegwood’s contract. Hegwood, who is black, has apologized for comments made Nov. 7 on her Twitter account that were laced with expletives and derogatory references to whites and blacks. Administrators have called the remarks “reprehensible.”

Hegwood, who taught English at Duncanville High School, was placed on unpaid leave Monday. She apologized in a statement Thursday and submitted her resignation, but the school board rejected a resignation and instead fired her with cause. That doesn’t affect a teacher’s pension, but it makes him or her ineligible for unemployment benefits, and future employers are told the teacher didn’t leave in good standing, school district spokeswoman Lari Barager said.

Today, if I even attempt to explain to a parent why their student is a discipline problem, it suddenly becomes an indictment on me.

I respect teachers who don't throw out public racist rants.

Nothing more unattractive on a woman than a foul mouth. She got what she deserved.
