RE: Robin Williams dead from an apparent suicide
As I stumble through this life,
help me to create more laughter than tears,
dispense more cheer than gloom,
spread more cheer than despair.

Never let me become so indifferent,
that I will fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child,
or the twinkle in the eyes of the aged.

Never let me forget that my total effort is to cheer people,
make them happy, and forget momentarily,
all the unpleasantness in their lives.

And in my final moment,
may I hear You whisper:
"When you made My people smile,
you made Me smile."

Police report says "asphyxia". Carbon monoxide, maybe? Just says he was found in his residence, doesn't say garage or anything.

Could that also be hanging or like Brad Delp of Boston fame putting your head in a oven and breathing in gas?

I thought Brad Delp have some charcoal grills burning in his bedroom?

The thing about Williams is it appears he might have been doing something other than trying to hang himself.

Asphyxia is simply loss of oxygen to the brain.

At the risk of being morbid, Delp took two grills and put it in his bathroom, not bedroom.

Robin Williams hung himself in his house.

Very sad.

RIP.

My mother taught there back then and she was plugged in to the gossip circuit. He could come here and virtually disappear. Isaac Bruce and Tim Howard have both told me the same. His brother Mac looks a lot like him, with less hair. Rumor has it Robin would put on a baseball cap when he went out and if anyone approached him he would imitate Mac. Supposedly pulled it off every time. Sad.

I think he's still there, I sent him an email this morning.

This is a podcast interview with Robin Williams from 2010. It is very insightful and almost eerie when he talks about suicide and death. WARNING: Contains Profanity. Especially f-bombs.

"Hug someone funny today!"

That was a great post. Listened to the entire podcast. Deciding not to call his post-divorce tour "Remember the Alimony."

He's implying auto-erotic asphyxiation similar to what killed some newsworthy celebrities a few years back (david carradine).

I have seen zero reports that say or imply this - everything points to the fact that he was deeply depressed and a lifelong addict who internalized his addiction.

My son-in-law interrupted me as he was watching the news by screaming "Oh, no!" He is not a demonstrative guy, so I knew it was bad.

Kind of made me feel like when I heard John Belushi was dead. The effect that Robin Williams had on so many people, such diverse people, and the depth of their sadness is truly amazing. His mother was from Brandon, Mississippi, his great-great grandfather was a Gov. and Senator of Mississippi.

I recall a Comedy Relief show when Robin was on stage with several other gifted comedians. Robin launched into one of his "journeys" and all of the other comedians simply slid into the shadows just off camera. Robin ran with it until he was sweating and short of breath. He paused to get a drink of water and looked to those in the shadows. At that point Billy Crystal asked him if he was finished. Robin said "not yet" and launched right back into one of his rare form flights of genius. The moment really caught my attention and I remember thinking his peers are as in awe of his talent as I am. He was a very rare one. Winters and Williams must be keeping 'em in stitches up there.

Latest report from CNN says he battled Parkinson's that can bring on severe depression. This gets sadder by the day

Letterman was in reruns all last week, I don't know if that was planned or not. But last night he was back and talked about his relationship with Robin going back 38 years. You could tell Letterman was very moved and that it was hard for him to say what he had to say, which was classy and funny.

RE: Robin Williams dead from an apparent suicide
Court docs add more to the story...

http://extratv.com/2014/11/11/robin-will...d-suicide/

Quote:Williams, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, was also suffering from Lewy Body Dementia, a common but devastating disease “marked by abnormal protein deposits in the brain that disrupt normal function.”

So even though it was technically suicide, sounds like he wasn't in his right mind at the time. Sad that someone who gave so much love to the world was so troubled himself.
