Texas State @ USA Game Week Discussion
Huge game between the Bobcats and Jaguars this weekend. The winner of this game likely gets the third bowl tie-in (whichever one that ends up being).
USA had 8 starters injured that didn't play during the Arkansas State game, 6 on offense and 2 on defense. We should be a little better on the injury front this week. Offensive lineman Drew Dearman, linebacker Maleki Harris, quarterback Brandon Bridge, tight end Wes Saxton and cornerback Qudarius Ford will all probably be back for this game. Hopefully we move on from last week's nightmare in Jonesboro and give a good effort against the Bobcats.

I've no doubt y'all will put up a great effort, especially with what's at stake
.... .. just hope it's not too good an effort . ...
Not sure what to expect from my Cats .... . looking at what's left of our schedule, 7 wins are possible, but then so's losing out .... Neither would surprise me

If Dennis Franchione calls the plays: South Alabama by 10

I agree, but add 10 to both "lines".

Eh, South Alabama's defense is good enough to hold you guys down. They wont keep you out, but can slow you down enough to keep it close.
Now if Bridge isn't back to full strength and they have to go to a backup QB...its going to be a blowout.

Bridge should play. Along with at least 4 others who missed the ASU game.

Sticking with my earlier prediction.
Cats win in Alabama then lose to Ark State, setting up the bowl bid on the GA State game

As much as I want this win, I don't want to just get it cause USA is injury depleting. Glad to hear the team will be back closer to full strength and hope for a good game.

Bridge is a quarterback in the making, not fully cooked by a long shot. Lots of God given assets, but can be erratic as a thrower, but still has legs to buy time for easy tosses. No doubt South's chances greatly improve if he is fully healthy.

South will really be up for this game and won't resemble the team that was clobbered in Jonesboro. The Jags aren't counting any chickens and neither should TexST.

We all know how the transitive property works but clearly if you judge the game by how both played Ga. Southern Texas St. should win. We played both on the road and Texas St. seemed the better team.

Injuries are part of the game. Good teams find a way to win even with the injuries so just hit the field and do your best. Cajuns have played a number of games without Jamal Robinson who's out for the season and this past weekend without top running back Alonzo Harris. I'm sure there are others who are hobbled as well.

Except we've played more than one common opponent.
Common opponents:
TXST vs Idaho -- Won 35-30
USA @ Idaho -- Won 34-10
TXST vs Georgia Southern -- Lost 28-25
USA vs Georgia Southern -- Lost 28-6
TXST vs Louisiana Lafayette -- Lost 34-10
USA @ Louisiana Lafayette -- Lost 19-9
USA performed better in two of the three games, even though two were on the road. All common opponent games for Texas State were played at home.
Average Score:
TXST 31-23 loss
USA 20-19 win

Shoulda, woulda, coulda.
If frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butts, and if our walking wounded return the Jags will not fold up and let the 'Cats run the field. That being said, it will be a fight for both teams. Prognosticating and 2 bucks might get you a cup of coffee.

Transitive Property? BWAHAHAHAHA.
Tough game on the road for the Cats. Last year, the home team won, and I know USA is gonna fight to make sure that happens again. This is their best (not only, but best) shot at becoming bowl eligible. Lots on the line for both squads.
I expect a few things:
1. A tough, close game.
2. Plenty of cussing from me.
3. A lot of drinking.
4. And tears (either of joy or sadness)

RE: Texas State @ USA Game Week Discussion
Much is being made of all of USA's injuries but that's part of the game -- good teams overcome this. When 8 starters are out and your team goes out to get their worst ass-whuppin' in history that's on the coaching staff, not the players. Obviously, their either can't recruit worth a crap or they are failing at developing their 2's and 3's into game-ready winners.
I'm not picking on Coach Joey Jones persay, I'm just saying this is my point of view ANYTIME a team is decimated with injuries and cannot even compete at the team's level (pee-wee, pros, D-I, D-III, etc.). IOW, it's the coaching staff's fault and shouldn't have any SERIOUS bearing on the outcome of a game.

This is a heck of a game, I'll go with USA because they are the home team, will be close, a field goal difference.
