RE: Conference with the Worst zebras
After what happened to Buffalo last year with that "phantom" intentional grounding call, surprised to not see the MAC on this list, that was the worst call I have seen in a game in years!

SEC is the worst as far as homerism. ACC and Pac12 have to be close from what I can tell by others. The ole WAC was amazingly horrible.

I'm pretty sure most of these refs are working double shifts on Saturday. Pop Warner games at 0900 and then off to their Sun Belt game later in the day.

Personally, I'll take incompetence over homerism all day. A bad refs sucks for both sides and you adjust. It's hard to work against guys who aren't impartial.

Except when we play Vanderbilt, the on field refs were CUSA refs..

It has always been tough for us to play SEC teams and refs. What would be a holding call, pass interference, or a personal foul in any other game is just "big boy football". Until its Auburn vs LSU, then everything changes.

RE: Conference with the Worst zebras
I don't know...I would have to say ACC because of the '99 Clemson game, the '00 UNC game, and our game against NC state some years back... And there have been a couple in which we weren't close enough for it to matter (Miami FL, VT)...

I thought we got a pretty fair shake at South Carolina in 1998...We got blown out against Florida, so it didn't matter... Big 12 against K-State were good I thought...

But Southern Conference officials have permanent cranio-rectal inversions...

RE: Conference with the Worst zebras
Against South Carolina this year when ECU had momentum going, we had a delay of game called on us for running a play too quickly and a personal foul for running with what one of our players thought was a fumble. The delay happened in USC territory when we were driving for a potential TD and the personal foul happened when we stopped a 3rd down run. Those were both game changing calls.

ACC refs are definitely pretty terrible in terms of being homers.

No doubt in my mind... anyone remember Toledo - Syracuse? Those were ACC refs and they LIED about a PAT to give Syracuse a win.

Do I think SEC officials do everything they can to make sure they win non-conference games? Yes, I do.. but they're almost NEVER as blatantly bad as ACC officials.

Details are fuzzy because my dad tells the story. However, I remember a story he tells once in a while about a game at Auburn. The Tigers were permitted one last play after time had expired in the 4th quarter. No flag was thrown, but they were given 1 untimed down and kicked a field goal to beat us.

Anyone have details? I have tried to find something, but can't.

RE: Conference with the Worst zebras
I remember when UAB was playing Oklahoma a while back and the Blazers were taking it to the Sooners, then the Big XII officials started dissecting their essence with a bunch of bull**** calls, including a clear fumble recovery at a critical time in the game that the officials conveniently gave back to Oklahoma. One of the worst calls I have ever seen. Clear case of "home cooking", some of these "good ole boy" officials take care of their own.

One thing for sure, and I hope one or all of them are reading this, I wouldn't put that motley crew of Conference USA officials they keep sticking UAB with at Legion Field for every "home" game in a Pop Warner contest! My Shetland Sheepdog can call a game better than them.
