Yeah, if I were going to put down money on the Tigers (never going to happen, but if...), I would wait on this one. The money had GOT to push that down at least some.

Maybe Tulane got dinged up on Saturday? Seems like a lot of points.

The Temple game had me spooked, now the Tulane game is doing the same. We don't run the ball, throw or catch, coach or tackle. But it is a good feeling to feel as part of the team. We beat Tulane I will feel much better winning out and winning the conf. (no non-jinx smiles available)

CJF's game plan lately has been to be very conservative on offense and let the defense win the field position battle. Unfortunately, by doing that our play calling is becoming very predictable.
Tulane looked to be a very improved team against Houston and better than its record shows. If the above trend continues, this will be a close ball game.

I hope Sam is okay. If he's broken his collarbone the rehab is long and painful. And it might also include his getting no exercise. Thus, he might be a long way from being in game shape even when he's cleared to practice.

Point spread is down to 10.5 so money is coming in on Tulane. Interesting.

-9 should be a good stopping point. You just have to be aware that it's their homecoming and just beat Houston. The atmosphere isn't anything new to the Tigers. They seen worse and played better.

1) Fuente has said all season long that every team in the AAC is fully capable of beating us if we don't play well.

2) Playing a conservative and predictable offense is better than turning the ball over. The last drive for the game-winning field goal was a masterpiece under pressure.

3) As the old saying goes, in even match-ups, football games are lost, not won.

4) I will not question strategies which win. Even the G*#@^!@# spread offense.

Now back up to -10.5 and -11 on the only 2 Vegas books showing online.

We should go back to the single wing

The play calling certainly has changed compared to UCLA/Cincy.

My take away is Houston and Temple have good defenses, Tulsa is ok and Cincy is bad on defense, thus the results.,Other than the 5 TO with UH, we have been consistently "ok to good" on offense.

Sam Craft has a lot to do with the offense being different IMO. The fly sweep is basically gone now.

Sam is good for about 10 touches a game. That is a big piece of the playbook. Alan Cross was not effective either last game. Conservative worked, but I'd enjoy less drama and an easier win.

Tulane is an average (at best) team. They played their best game of the year against a Houston team that did not take them seriously. Please remember that just 10 days ago this same Tulane team got curbstomped at home against Cincy.

My early prediction: 30-17 Tigers.

It's not that bad, there is a trend. Craft had a monster rushing game against Cincy mainly because he was the only available back and he kept moving the chains. Against Houston, they keyed on him and we turned the ball over five times. We were still in it until the end.

Against SMU and Tulsa the running game again dominated so Temple to their credit stopped it. Paxton was something like 20-27 with no picks. That isn't all that conservative. Besides, I am sure that after those previous two games Brandon Hayes was getting a little worn down. He still ground out 75 yards. A few more carries could have gotten him to 100. We weren't conservative on that final drive, we played fast and worked the clock perfectly.

My only wish is that we had a running back that could get to the corner and turn on the jets.

RE: Tigers -11 at Tulane
Our conservative play calling was the reason that 4th quarter drive was so successful against Temple. We showed some stuff on that last drive we hadn't run all season (subtle things with schemes and protections, not necessarily routes and such).

Remember, as CJF said on the coaches show: they don't ask you how, just how many.

As I said in parentheses, I will never bet money, for or against, my home team. It just ain't right.
