Let's just get it back on topic. If we beat Navy, do you think we will receive more votes at 9-2?

Maybe only a couple. Even the guy who gave us a vote said on twitter that he did it because he thought we deserved some attention, not necessarily because he thought we really were #25.

maybe 1 or 2 more. depends on how we win. Navy still isn't ranked that highly, so it isn't much of a needle mover. If we win by 3 scores or so, then you could see another vote or two pop up.

Yeah, a convincing win after they gave ND a battle is what we need to move the needle.

I don't think that still really moves the needle too much. At this point we would need people below us losing more than we need us winning... although we obviously still have to win.

What would move the needle is winning out.

It's not about who we beat or how badly we beat anyone. Any sort of love GS could get in the top 25 poll would come from having double-digit wins.

Think about it. There are never 25 teams with 10 or more wins in a season. Last season, I think the final poll only had 18-19 teams with double-digits in the 'W' column. Call it laziness in filling out the poll, but looking at a list of possible teams and seeing 10-2 is going to draw plenty of attention, regardless of if that particular voter has even seen a GS game.

I vote in the high school state prep poll. I'm honest when I say that there are plenty of teams that I get sweet or sour on without ever seeing them play.

In the final poll of each season, 8 is the magic number for consideration in my book. There are always 5-6 teams in each classification that everyone knows about. For the rest, I'll look for 8-9 win teams that maybe haven't gotten as much love.

If there is a small team from a weak part of the state, I'll give them some love so long as they don't have a horrible loss.

I realize that ranking college teams allows for much more analysis, but that's my opinion. If GS has a gaudy number in the win column and can catch the eye of a few voters, they might take a second glimpse at the Eagles' resume. Not to get into the 'quality' of wins or losses, but I would imagine that plenty of people would be pretty impressed with a 10-2 team whose only two losses came in the final 90 seconds of play against teams that were heavily favored.

It will take 11-2 with a bowl win over a good team for us to have any chance.

With GT likely loosing their last two to go to 8-4 and NCSU splitting or losing their last two to go to 6-6 or 5-7 also takes the luster off.

GS is terrible. They don't have good depth, offense is 'gimmicky' and their defense looks average at best. I don't even understand how they are in the Sun Belt. Maybe they can be competitive once they get some decent FBS recruits.

I never get these type of statements "GS is terrible" and yet they are in a position to WIN the SBC.
Because something is gimmicky doesn't mean it's not effective. I would rather have something that is clever and effective than mainline and crap.
Sometimes being smarter makes you better. If you can stop their "gimmicky" Offense then fine, call it out. If they beat you with it, just understand they are better than you. You are only better than the teams you beat. #Scoreboard

GS has been called gimmicky for 30 years to the tune of a .733 winning percentage.

What is your winning percentage over that same time?

Everyone knows that the juggernaut that is Louisana Tech would have cut GSU to pieces. All that talent and tradition that comes with the La Tech brand would render us hopeless.
