Good deal. I actually think Marshall will win out regular season but they will have a BIG roadblock in La Tech. La tech is playing lights out right now and I don't see anyone beating them either. Good thing for Marshall is that they will probably get to host the championship game but it's still not guaranteed with the Dawgs. It will be a fine game and one I really want to see. We'll see if Marshall is all that with this game. No, Really.

Marshall vs La Tech has a chance to be epic. Tech will need to tighten up on their Run "D" though if they want to have a chance at beating Marshall on their homefield.

Having watched a few Marshall games, and all of Tech's games:

Marshall probably wins.

Tech will not have faced a QB like Cato. I have confidence in the Tech D, but Cato is fantastic. Even with a healthy Cody Sokol and Kenneth Dixon, we'll need to have a near-perfect game along the OL, which is not common.

It will be a shootout, and I think a fantastic game. But Tech will need to play their best game of the season to win.

Marshall has a lot of weapons and are tough to defend. There is one thing Tech could do though to easily swing the game in their favor - create turnovers. It will also be played in December in Huntington which has a good chance at having poor weather ( wind and cold rain or snow) which usually hampers the better offensive team. With our weakest link being run defense between the tackles, La Tech could take advantage of that as well.

Right now though, we both have to beat Rice which is not by far a gimme.

We will blow out every opponent left on our schedule and whoever wins the west. The gap between Marshall and the rest of CUSA is enormous THIS SEASON. Just the way i is. Example... Tech vs auSM 31-20.... Marshall 63-17. UAB will probably give another common opponent example that is similar. Though i still worry about UAB more than any other game.

I'm worried about all our remaining games:

Rice is a very disciplined team, they rarely make mistakes or miss assignments. Guess that's what you get when your team's average IQ is about 40 points higher than the average ncaa football team.

UAB is a place where we never play well plus they have some good players on both sides of the ball.

WKU is dangerous just because if their QB gets in a groove they can throw up a bunch of points. If they had any kind of defense I would be more worried.

If we play La Tech in the championship game they are solid on both sides of the ball and are playing with a ton of confidence. It would probably be best for us if we beat Rice and then Rice beat La Tech. Would put doubt in their players heads, but wouldn't help us in the rankings.

Just speaking the truth, but ill eat a piece of that pie if someone makes me. So many out there still don't see how good a football this team is and are fooled by the SOS arguments, even fans in this conference. Beating USM at USM worse than bama did at home should open some eyes. But the dis-respect continues.

Very diplomatic of you Banker. But none of those games will be close. UAB will be the toughest IMO, but no reason to worry. Especially as well as we have been coming out of halftime lately.

I can only hope our team doesn't have the same cocky, very unbecoming, attitude.

RE: AP Poll - Marshall #21, CSU #23
Dont mistake what i say as an indication of the norm. I dont mean to sound like Marshall is the greatest program ever every year and cusa is beneath them. We are not and will not be. In fact, i believe most years this conference will be very challenging and a title will be something that is a rare accomplishment with many very good programs we are competing with.

It is this season i am talking about. This is a once in a lifetime or 40 year type of team MU has put on the field . By far our best team in our history and that includes some very good squads. This will probably never happen again, but for this season, no one touches us, unless we get to a cfp bowl, and we compete and can win against any opponent in that game too. We will make cusa proud.

Next year, this conference is fair game for a number of teams and we will fall back to earth, and my assessments will reflect that. If i think we will go 3-9 and be a punching bag, ?i will tell you exactly that as well.

I can only hope they stay focused, and go to work everyday and prove me right. We as fans have the luxury of looking past the next saturday. Its not like I am spouting nonsense. Just being very direct and candid. None of what i say is outlandish or false.

And that makes me smile. Because LA Tech continues to knock down CUSA opponents week after week. And it has now happened 6 times.

Could Marshall have beaten Auburn this year on the road? Hell No. Could Marshall have beaten Oklahoma this year on the road? Hell No. So, if we really compare apples to apples, these two teams are actually MUCH closer in talent and capability than LA Tech's 7-3 record indicates. 05-mafia

Your reading too much into that USM game.

USM was up for the LA Tech game. The Eagles were coming off a nice road win at UTEP --a team with a winning record even today-- and thought the LA Tech game might be a real turning point for their program. USM even had a chance to move to a winning (4-3) record with a win against LA Tech. Add in the "rivalry" aspect of that game, and USM had good reason to be motivated.

When Marshall met USM, the Eagles were coming off two straight losses, including the one at home to LA Tech, and the players knew they weren't going bowling in 2014. It was over for them. And with all due respect to USM, it showed in their quality of play. I think USM is better than what they showed last night. But I do congratulate Marshall on their road win last night.

Not if Boise wins out keeping CSU out of the MWC title picture.

I don't like score comparing because it is too subjective and doesn't take into account match ups, injuries, team moral (like you mentioned) and a whole other host of things.

Us playing La Tech.. if it even happens (still lots of football left) will come down to who figures who out first.. What I mean by that, is which team's defense figures out how to neutralize the other the fastest.. If we figure it out early and you don't our offense can put up points in a hurry and give you a very big whole to have to try and dig out of.

However, if the opposite is true and you figure it out early and we don't.. I fully believe our offense will still do enough to keep us in it, but I'm not sure if our defense is good enough to let us come back from two scores down to a team as good as Tech.

So close in talent that our only common opponent, Marshall beat 63-17 without our starting #2 in the nation RB, and Tech won in dominating 31-20 fasion. Yeah. Its close..... only in your dreams. When Tech loses by 21+ in huntington in december, what excuse will you use?

How on earth did Techs vaunted defense allow more pts than Marshall?

Just speaking the truth, but ill eat a piece of that pie if someone makes me. So many out there still don't see how good a football this team is and are fooled by the SOS arguments, even fans in this conference. Beating USM at USM worse than bama did at home should open some eyes. But the dis-respect continues.

Your reading too much into that USM game.

USM was up for the LA Tech game. The Eagles were coming off a nice road win at UTEP --a team with a winning record even today-- and thought the LA Tech game might be a real turning point for their program. Add in the "rivalry" aspect of that game and there ya go.

Its subjective when it may be a 4 or 7 or 10 pt difference. We are talking a 35 pt difference in MOV... and USM was playing to keep bowl hopes alive and obviously were "up" for that game. I know Tech fans think MU wouldnt compete with auburn or oklahoma, and that tech is some juggernaut, but you are sadly mistaken on both fronts and MU will truck Tech in the title game.
