Unfortunately, the ladies lost to Buffalo in Buffalo on a goal in the 81st minute, 1 - 0.

Congrats to the team and staff on a great run this season. Too bad it didn't end in a championship. UB dominated the All-MAC teams but it seems that WMU gave them a run for their money in the finals.

Despite falling one win short of a championship, congratulations on a great season ladies. Go Broncos,

Correction: TWO Bronco teams.

Men's Rugby played in the MAC championship game today, losing to Bowling Green 31 to 22.

Yeah, it doesn't get much publicity considering it's a club team. But we've got guys on the team that are former Bronco football players, future football players...many multi-sport athletes.

WMU Rugby earned an at-large bid, announced today, to the ACRC national rugby playoff and has been ranked 16th in the nation in the latest coaches poll despite losing in the MAC championship this weekend. Bowling Green is ranked 7th. This list is only club-level teams though.

In last week's D-I college rankings (varsity teams included), Western ranked #22 and BG ranked #17. This is extremely impressive considering they are both above many actual varsity teams. Dayton comes in at #31 and no other MAC teams made the top 50.

Congratulations to you and the team on the at large bid and the ranking. Make some noise in the tournament.

I'm actually not playing this year. Getting too old and too busy 03-hissyfit

But I still keep up with the team's exploits!

RE: There Is a Broncos Team Playing for a Championship Today
WMU Men's Rugby played this morning down in North Carolina to kick off the American Collegiate Rugby Championship. They played against Life University's B-side (essentially their JV team) and were defeated 42-10.

I know we say around here that there are no moral victories, but this was just that. This team is a club team. No scholarships. Coaches aren't paid, they are just volunteers from the community. The fact that they were even invited to this playoff series is monumental. Life University is universally accepted as one of the premier rugby universities in the nation. They are undefeated this year and regularly play against professional rugby clubs. I think our guys can hold their heads high after this one.

Tough loss but it seems like a huge step forward for the club team.
