"North-Eastern" Football had quite a Bowl season..
With Big East teams going 5-0 and with wins by Penn State, Maryland, BC, and Miami (an adopted north-eastern team) all winning as well, that is a 9-0 record. Quite a year for "northeastern" (and its adopted) teams.

Hmmm...too bad the above non-Big East teams just don't see "the light". ;-)

Cheers,
Neil

Actually Northeastern football went 9-1 as BC beat Navy a fellow Northeastern team. That being said I understand and like what you're thinking.

Throw out navy and add our other three members and you would have a nice twelve team conference. I wonder what the records would have been this year with that line up...guess it depends on how you split them and who plays who.

Based on playing all five of your division foes and three from the other division and four OOC games.

I might go with a kind of twisted East-West set-up with specific cross-over rivalries:

Miami-USF
Maryland-West Virginia
BC-Syracuse
Penn State-Pitt
Rutgers-Louisville
UConn-Cincy

This way the teams that travel well are spread out more evenly, every team has access to the Florida and Pennsylvania recruiting territories, and the power teams (at least as I see it) are more evenly balanced.

In addition to some of the known rivalry match-ups, each division has at least one marquee match-up with Miami vs Penn State and West Virginia vs Louisville.

Cheers,
Neil

I wonder if anyone has ever considered a twelve team conference with three divisions of four. You play your three division rivals and two team out of each of the other two divisions alternating two teams each year. For instance

EAST
Syracuse
Boston
UConn
Rutgers

RUST BELT lol
Pitt
Penn
WVU
Cincy

SOUTH
Louisville
maryland
USF
Miami

Example in 2007 Louisville would play Maryland, USF, Miami, Cincy, WVU, Uconn and Rutgers
IN 2008 they would play Maryland, USF, Miami, Pitt, Penn, Boston and Syrause
That's only seven conference games which would allow schools to continue cross sectional rivaries, or make ND type schedules full of marque opponents, or schedule lots of home games to make lots of money.

I actually think it's possible to set up such a scenerio if the football teams were interested and potentially willing to make some concessions to the new members (specifically, PSU). Actually, get Notre Dame instead of Miami(Fl) and I think you have an excellent conference setup.
