Bomani Jones is actually defending Clay on his show. I know I shouldn't let that affect me, but seriously it goes to show how low our standards as a country have fallen. Instead of blaming the showboat, we create excuses for the showboat.

I don't feel sorry for him whatsoever. This is why players are taught to hand the ball to the ref. There's a difference of making an honest mistake like missing a block that gets your QB hurt, missing a FG to lose a game, and so on. This is simply a selfish act by Clay that bit him and his team in the ass. Act like you been there before.

Frankly, I don't think he was showboating so much as just being caught in the moment. Clay is a return man, and following a season-ending injury to Dres Anderson (Utah's top receiver), Clay was pushed into the rotation as the new primary deep threat. This would have been his first career receiving TD. I don't think he expected to be the guy to put his team up 14-0 against a top five opponent with his first receiving TD. I was more pressed that he bounced back and had the catch to put Utah back within 3 in the fourth quarter. It didn't make up for the huge swing early, but he showed some toughness in coming back from that moment of embarrassment.
