It would certainly be different, huh? Would be our first CC in football since 1971.

Wow, that is a long time. I was born that year so I have firsthand knowledge.

Kinda hard to win a conference championship when you're not in one. We were D-1a independents from 1974-1995.

Yeah, I think we won 3 from 1968 to 1971, and none since. One in 1938, too. I just didn't bother to mention we were independents after that, but UC fans should know that. They were hanging out with us.

I think we are going to have Co-Champs no matter what. Think Memphis is nearly guaranteed a piece of the title.

It is certainly possible. Memphis wins games by guile, guts, and gumption. Without those elements, we do not have sufficent talent to swamp other teams.

Wow I didn't know 1 defensive battle meant we are going to get rolled by Tulane now. You are all kinds of sad.

My goodness you are sensitive. He was just pointing out there are games still to be played and no-one needs to be crowned yet. Calm yourself..

Maybe not. We have to play at Tulane next week. If we play like we did at Temple, and Tulane plays like they did at Houston, we'll lose.

Agree 100%. C'mon Memphis fans......I know we've been through a lot of bad years and that we have come light-years from where we were, but to ever start talking like we are good enough to assume victories over anybody in the American is just plain silly.

Stop it with your all kinds of sad crap. What I was saying is more games to play before crowning yourself. Others did that and got beat. Memphis almost lost this week. I am not proclaiming any victories for Cincinnati in advance. This league is showing that anyone can lose.

Not so fast. Still a good chance for a 2 loss first place multi-team knot by the end of the season.

memphis state was in the missouri valley from 1968-1972 and won the conference in '68 & '69. thats the only period as a university that we were in a football conference until cusa formed in 1996.

I actually really like the traditional set-up. With divisional set-ups, I feel like you are almost half in another conference than the other division and bigger than that, I like that fact that winning an outright title is hard. You want it by yourself, you have to be almost perfect.

You guys could lose against USF...

The parity in this league is crazy.

The problems with my Bulls that we can just as easily compete with the best team in the league like we did with ECU....or.....we could easily lose to SMU next week, which with all due respect is the worst team in the conference.

And '71, according to records I looked up. But I was overseas then, so not sure. And yes, I know our conference affiliations. Been following the Tigers since 1952. Just wasn't going to list the specific span of years, b/c I wasn't sure. And we did win a CC in 1938, too, in something called the SIAA, or some such.

My point was it's been a long damn time since we won a CC, regardless of the circumstances. Wasn't trying to mislead anybody, lol.

Exactly. The teams in this conference are so all over the place. It's like every team has a split personality. You don't know who will show up on any given day...

Most of the young whippersnapper Bearcats aren't aware of such things as that, including the fact that Memphis leads them 19-13 all-time. 05-stirthepot
