There were definitely way more than that.

I remember that (4,100) game.

That said, no matter what crowd Temple brought last night, some douche was going to start one of these threads. Fact is, short of an SEC (Bama) type crowd, you always have people that need something to chime in about. These people are the equivalent of the grammar nazis on message boards. I'm astounded that anyone participates in these threads week after week.

There is nothing weaker than attendance smack.

I think certain people bust it out because they can't intelligently discuss the game itself. Filling the lower bowl of the Linc is a job on Saturdays... let alone a chilly Friday night when there's a pro basketball game starting at the same exact time in the arena 100 yards away.

Yes 03-lmfao it takes ONE HELLA BAD PUNT to hit an upfield blocker (probably still 15-20 yards ahead of the returner).

True...but Temple is on the North side of town...and the soccer stadium was built well south of the city in an industrial area called Chester.

Temple students (and those that live in the North/West suburbs) would have to travel to a not so great area of Chester to watch a game.

Bummer that the soccer team couldn't build their stadium in the same area of town that dates back to the Spectrum/Vet/JFK Stadium to current day.

So you're saying Temple needs to relocate to southern Philly

Umm, this sounds like the Villanova FBS plan, which was treated as practically a crime against humanity. Granted that Villanova was moving straight into an AQ league, but I thought it was worth remembering.

Politically, it's an incredibly tough sell in the northeast to put together a $100M package to build a stadium when there's already a larger stadium, using the argument that the smaller stadium will help draw larger crowds. Northeastern logic will reach a default of suggesting an anatomical impossibility before diagramming out how exactly that works.

"So you have trouble drawing 20,000 to the Linc sometimes, and you average way less than 30K, and you want money/permissions so you can build a 30K so that your crowds fill more of the stadium, which will draw more people so that you can upgrade to 40K someday? GTFO my office you blank. What, is Temple football going to relocate to Kansas City or Sacramento if you dont get a stadium?"

I believe a similarly poor kick made by the Tiger punter worked to Memphis' advantage in the MTSU game.

Yes, but we don't use it as a regular part of the gameplan. 03-lmfao

Aw hells no... That crap didn't fly with Villanova and it won't fly with Temple. If Temple tries to go that route, they need to be expelled from the AAC.

Not great by any means, but I'd guess that every program in the conference sans ECU (maybe UConn?) has had one or more of those in recent few years.

ECU has had a reduction in attendance also. These damn Thursday games suck ass and are some of the problem. God I hate mid week football. It literally ruins the game atmosphere for those that actually attend them. If this happens again next year? I will seriously have to think hard about season tickets. Damn shame. 3 hour drives are fine on Saturdays..but..Thursday is god awful.

Whats your point?

Alex Wells dropped an INT as did Matakevich!!

We did give the game away:
- PJ INT in red zone
- Poor punting(which we had good all year)
- Fumbled punt return at 10 yard line
- Missed 37 yard FG
- 2 dropped big plays - 1 def TD and 1 probable
- too many dropped passes by our WRs in general
- 2 dropped INTs

I will say I thought the refs did a very good job last night on both sides.

I'll add to that my complaint about night games in November/December. Paying fans sit in 30 and 40 degree weather so that folks who pay nothing but a cable fee sit in their easy chair in heated homes.

I understand the need for TV revenue, but it is ironic when ticket buying fans' teeth are chattering through extended TV time outs and nonpaying fans are warm and cozy.

However, nothing was as bad as when the Liberty Bowl was played on the Monday night immediately after the NFL regular season ended. Sitting through a night game in the middle of December in a Memphis open air stadium was brutal many years. We had a guy die while sitting a couple of rows behind us one year. That one event changed my mind about how many cold night games I would attend.

I'm sorry that the Owls had a bad game. Are you looking for condolences or just trying to justify the loss in your own mind?

The score is still 16-13 and will be forever that way. You sound like some of our Memphis fans in our disappinting loss to Houston. I was disappointed and thought that we could play better, but the Cougars absolutely won the game. We didn't "give the game away", they played better than we did.

Teams have great games, good games, and poor games and fans have to deal with it.

"We did give the game away:"????? Really? I think it's more accurate to say the Memphis played better than Temple, right?

That sure was a lot of effort by 2 programs if Temple was just going to "give the game away". email us next time you want to give us a win and we'll save the trip.

Good luck and best wishes for the Owls the balance of the year.......Penn State next week!

BearcatJerry, not referring to the current pro soccer stadium. Back in '98 Major League Soccer was talking about partnering with Temple to build a stadium on campus that would be used by Temple football and pro soccer

Damn, that sucks. Interesting comment on fans at home an the ones at the game. I tend to enjoy the elements and the live crowd. Then again, as I get older I have begun to change.

When I was kid playing in a basketball game, a friends grandfather died of a heart attack on the side of the court during the game. It was horrible and has always stayed with me.

Almost 24K attendance (or tickets sold) is disappointing. It is NOT horrible.
