Excellent OOC match-up for both schools. Congrats, Mountaineers! Nice grab.

1998 Insight Bowl re-match!!!!! (honest to God, I knew that without having to look it up. Useless information infesting my mind).

I'm sure these will be good match-ups, but it does strike me as weird. WVU is ALREADY playing a lot of games in the Midwest, now they'll go to the Midwest for an OOC game. Figured WVU would try to be exclusively getting OOC games in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, just to keep some road games closer to home.

In the SEC? That's the only possibility.

Geographically, it's a "doubling down" by both schools. You'd think Mizzou would want to keep a finger in the Texas recruiting pie and sign up an old Big 12 rival (or TCU).

Meanwhile, I wonder if West Virginia is getting a little lack of interest from ACC schools. For one thing, not a lot of recruits in WV/southwest PA. For another, you can probably schedule an easier P5 game than WVU anyway. If you're most ACC schools, you need that win more than you need to sell a few thousand tickets when the Mountaineers come to town.

This is not a knock on the Pitt or VT or Syracuse etc fanbases. I know you'd love to see your school play WVU again etc etc etc. I'm saying that from a cold business standpoint, scheduling someone softer in a good recruiting area (Tennessee?) might be more important than a part-time revival of the Backyard Brawl.
