We're better against the run than the pass - long or short. I fully expect Toledo to do their usual dink and doink short passes, getting 5 to 10 yards per pass. Makes sense because they are high percentage passes and we can't stop them. Throw in a couple long passes because we can't stop those either. The only thing holding the long ones back will be the wind.

What do you mean we can't stop the run? We couldn't stop the run against CMU and EMU (somehow) in which they ran all over us to make our run defense stats a little skewed. Other than that game, we have been pretty decent against the run. It's our passing defense that is atrocious even though the stats don't really indicate that either.

Yes I would think the bad conditions favor NIU, not that it is probably is big either way. NIU has trouble with balanced teams that can run and pass. NIU is much better when having to shut down one dimension, as are many teams, but that especially seems to be the case with this team.

The question to be asked though is whether Toledo can stay balanced with the pass if they are playing a 3rd string QB?

Absolutely, that is why I feel like NIU has a good chance tonight. Granted though, Toledo, even if one dimensional has a very good one dimension that could conceivably be enough to win. I think this game could come down to the durability and health of Hunt.

Miami OH average 5+ypc on their way to 170 rushing yards
The 9th string RB for Ark even averaged 5ypc
Edwards for Ball St had 21/92yds...
Won't even mention CMU and EMU
R Bell jr only has 2 100yd rushing games (NIU and BUff) next highest is 40yds
Brumfield only has 1 100yd rushing game(NIU)..

Rawls had 65 yds on 3.8ypc vs Toledo.... vs NIU he had 270 @ 6.8ypc..

I think NIU comes out throwing in terrible weather, and forgets about Stingly until the end of 3rd quarter when the game is out of reach..

Sounds about right. That's what I expect, too. And when Hare starts missing receivers, Carey brings in Maddie who also misses receivers.

RE: Toledo Predictions
I think the Stinger is just getting in his groove and is going to just pound Toledo. Him missing the early part of the season might have been the best thing for this team in a transition year with being 100% towards the season's end. Have a feeling we will see a Wedel fake this game too. Haven't seen it since the Ark game (unless I missed it another time).

RE: Toledo Predictions
It's funny how positive most predictions are before each of our games. Then to read the game threads when the game is actually happening. Such a contrast.

It's only a few people (Oilgausa, PJFleck, Chaz, etc) during the game thread that are negative the entire time. Maybe a few others, just got those off the top of my head because they seem to only be active during the games.

BTW, someone mentioned how we were having trouble covering this year, and we are. We're 4-5 vs. the spread. That said, Toledo is 2-7 ATS.
