RE: 'Playoff' rankings
Good news: 4 teams in the top 25
Bad news: only 1 ranked high enough to matter (i.e. top 10)
looking ahead: next year it's critical to get two teams in the top 10 since there is no guaranteed 2nd team if one gets into the playoffs (because the Orange Bowl hosts next year)

I like the 8-team CFP, with autobids for ANY conference champ in the top-10 (regardless of conference - the bowl game contracts with conferences are fine, but no conference autobids for the CFP). So, theoretically, you could have the entire CFP made up of conference champs. More likely, however, you will have 5 or 6 conference champs.
Right now:
ROUND 1
Friday, December 19, 7p Eastern
at Starkville, MS
(1) Miss St. (SEC)
(8) Michigan St. (at large)
Saturday, December 20, 8p Eastern
at Eugene, OR
(5) Alabama (at large)
(4) Oregon (PAC 12)
Saturday, December 20, 4:30p Eastern
at Auburn, AL
(3) Auburn (at large)
(6) TCU (Big 12)
Saturday, December 20, 1p Eastern
at Tallahassee, FL
(7) Kansas St. (at large)
(2) Florida St. (ACC)
ROUND 2
(Assumption that higher ranked wins Round 1)
January 1, 2015, 5p Eastern
Rose Bowl: (2) Florida St. v. (3) Auburn
January 1, 2015, 8:30p Eastern
Sugar Bowl: (1) Miss St. v. (4) Oregon
Non-CFP New Year's 6 Bowl Games
December 31, 2014
Orange Bowl: (5) Alabama (B1G/SEC/ND) v. (21)Clemson (ACC)
Fiesta Bowl: (7) Kansas St. v. (9) Arizona St.
Peach Bowl: (10)Notre Dame v. (NR) Marshall (G5)
January 1, 2015
Cotton Bowl: (6)TCU v. (8) Michigan St.

FSU falls with wins in the ACC....while other conferences move up with losses.
ACC is dead conference walking.

Has nothing to do with that. They are looking at margin of victory. If FSU didn't struggle so much there's no debate. You can't come from behind every game and expect it to not catch up with you at some point.
Regardless, this is a non-issue. After this plays out over the next 3 weeks or so, FSU will be #1.

You are blind if you think this has nothing to do with the ACC.
This is why the ACC is the new Big East. It refuses to acknowledge it's issues and feels all conference issues are FSU's.
THe conference gets ZERO respect. An undefeated conference team gets less respect than a 1 loss Pac 12 team (who lost to a 21 point underdog).
It IS about the ACC.....the ACC is just too stupid to understand it.

RE: 'Playoff' rankings
There is evidence that nole is correct to SOME extent at least.
Oregon ranked above FSU could be due to other factors (not the least of which is the Pac-12 having more reps on the CFP committee than any other P5 conference). However, more to the point is Duke, which has one loss but is ranked behind 10 two-loss teams and one THREE-loss team.
Look, the ACC dug itself a big hole in terms of football respect, and it will take a few years of sustained success to dig out of it - and not just FSU success, either. The top teams need to win big OOC games, and the bottom teams need to STOP scheduling games they cannot win (i.e. a reasonable chance of winning).
If FSU continues to be the only good team in a bad league, what will happen is FSU will eventually jump to another conference and the ACC will lose it's P5 status... it's just that simple. How long does the ACC have to turn things around? I don't know, but it's no time to procrastinate...

RE: 'Playoff' rankings
Well A Lot of the key teams this year were breaking in new QB's so I would assume the ACC will be better next year at the top, with FSU maybe taking a baby step back.
We just need to win our Bowls and OOC games and perception will slowly change.

MESSAGE TO UVA AND SYRACUSE: we need you to WIN your OOC games, not just sell lots of tickets (well, lots for you guys, anyway).
Why we are at it, MESSAGE TO VA TECH and PITT: STOP losing to G5 (and lower) teams!
Finally, MESSAGE TO UNC: PLAY SOME DEFENSE!

Wait....I thought the party line all along during realignment was for FSU (and Clemson FWIW) to just win and we had nothing to worry about. That what the rest of the conference did wouldn't matter.

I for one never said that.
FSU winning it all IS very valuable to the league, but the rest of the teams winning most of their OOC and bowl games (think 75% or better) is just as important.

I always thought that was BS.
2 teams can't carry a conference of 14. This is the core issue with the ACC......too much dead weight. It just doesn't work.
What makes that worse, is MOST of the decision are being made by the dead weight.....normally schools that are more bothered by football and unwilling to recognize that is where the money is coming from.
HIGHLY dysfunctional conference.
