Quick question. Are they counting the 2008 season for us?

That's also a little unfair to use their CURRENT conference, instead of the conference they were in when they made the wins. That more heavily pads the stats of the top conferences that have taken teams leaving the Big East, C-USA, etc.

Nope.

Are you sure...

14 for Calapari and 2 for Josh...That seems right...

And looking back, even with Cals big run we had about the same number of wins from 1980 to 1995 as well.

That is counting 2008.

I would not quite go so far as to view American wins as UConn and little else though.

If you want to be nice and add Cincy; go right ahead. The three of us account for 83% of the conference's wins. Temple and Tulsa account for 11 of the conference's wins...none of them in the last 10 years.

The reality is that it is still much better than CUSA. The league is so top heavy that we should get 3 bids every year. As long as Brown is at SMU they will be in the running and you have to figure that when Dunphy finally gets fired; Temple will get its act together.

Jones at UCF is a real head scratcher. He did a really nice job at Marshall. One would think that he would have done really well, being in the middle of a fertile state for recruiting, and having brand new facilities.

I'm talking cusa pre 2006 with UConn and Temple in place of Louisville and Marquette

That makes sense, except that you make it sound like a bad thing. I doubt the league ever gets to be that good.

It is a bad thing because IMO we will never get off the 6-10 seed line unless we go like 30-3 or something. And it's why the first game of the year means so much

The disrespect for the entire conference last year was baffling to say the least. If you look at preseason rankings, the PAC12 only has one team ranked, and the $EC and BE only have two; the same as the AAC.

I would think that 5/6 losses should get us a 4/5 seed if we can pull it off.

The problem is you can't have a bad night and lose to one of the 150+ RPI teams in this conference. UConn's loss on New Year's Eve @Houston crushed us even though we beat them by 40 at home a couple weeks later. We were much more a 4 seed than the 7 seed we got. The crap teams in this conference need to schedule a lot better OOC because they aren't doing us any favors RPI wise.

Everyone should have been seeded higher and SMU should have made the tournament. It was a screwjob from top to bottom.
