Just trying to pump some sunshine into this dark place.

That's what I'm thinking too!

There is not doubt, that we only raise concern from the powers in control when UAB is successful on the field or the court.

The group doing the study has done well by UAB by bring in HC Clark. PBJ may see the writing on the wall and is trying to preempt something he doesn't want to see the light of day because it might force the BOT hand and result in approving the OCS. It this is actually what PBJ has done, the Governor should immediately through him off the UA BOT because he does not have the best interest of UAB in mind in his actions!

Once again!! The Governor can NOT throw anyone off the UA system BOT for any reason. The BOT is not under his control (like those of all other state universities). He can neither appoint nor remove from the UA BOT anyone at any time for any reason. ONLY the BOT members themselves have that power.

UAB is possibly in danger on two main points: the "B" stands for B'ham, the city that many / most in Alabama wish would disappear. And then many consider UAB to be anti Crimson Tide and that puts them in league with the Devil. I don't anticipate a great groundswell of statewide support if what we think we are seeing turns out to be fact.

Remember that B'ham was already the state's largest city for over half a century before the state saw fit to put a state university in it - only two years before it was a century old. Early UAB had to fight the Tuscaloosa campus tooth and nail for almost every program it has tried to set up - particularly the higher profit & prestige graduate programs. Nothing not medical has come easy for UAB as it approaches its 50th birthday in 2019.

I believe the Governor could influence the right people to cause change in the UA BOT. It doesn't have to be a direct action. Your correct about the "love for Birmingham" by the rest of the state - NOT. The Jeff. Co. congressional members are even blocked just because their from Jeff. Co.

Politics is a dirty business but UAB has to find some friends somewhere to help in this situation.

This is really, really abusive.

Y'all got petitions going? Deliver one with 20,000 signatures on it to the governor's office. Make sure the story stays in the media. The governor's a pol, so maybe he'll react to being leaned on by the public. He needs to know that killing UAB football hurts him. I know zero about him, but does he want this as part of his legacy?

Looking for that silver lining--maybe this episode becomes a rallying point for UAB sports and ultimately increases support and interest.

We need an informed person. We need facts separated from conjecture & supposition. And we need them consise and deliverable ASAP. No fluff, no B.S., and no "I think".

Is that person among us, or do we know whom might fit the bill ?

STC ? Demiveeman ? Attalla ?

I'm not sure you can post specific details here, but can you provide any additional insight as to your source and its reliability on this matter? PBJ openly lobbying for the closure of the program is a pretty significant escalation, even for a snake oil P.O.S. like him. Is there any reasonable chance that it's a misunderstanding or perhaps a misinterpretation of comments made recently?

Don't get me wrong, I hate the bastage as much as anyone can...he and his ilk have done more damage over the years to UAB than losing every football and basketball game ever could have.

No offense, but most people on this board need to learn that Attalla is not a 20-year-old pimply kid in his mom's basement moderating a fan message board. How much of his info, of which he shares a fraction, has to be proven fact before you'll drop the "skepticism" and fight when he tells you it's time to fight? Donate when he tells you the time is critical?

In a state where the state Speaker of the House can be indicted on over 20 counts of abusing his office for personal gain and still win his election by almost 2-1, there is no level to which the state's electorate can be assumed not to stoop. The state's electorate has accepted that all state politicians (and probably by extension, all those in other states) are corrupt because in Alabama such behavior has never been punished by losing an election. "Big jim" Folsom was reputed to have bragged that "the first time I learned how to steal and the second time I will be better at it" and won by an even bigger margin because "he was so honest". Don't hold your breath until a governor comes to UAB's rescue.

The Gov is on his second term now, can't be re-elected. No leverage.

And PBJ got him elected the first time.

Can't run again? That's why I threw in the word "legacy". Most of these guys are ultimate egotists.

If PBR is lobbying the Governor is the vote split on the Board and the Governor is the final vote?

I'll admit i've made smarta... Remarks about uab football in the past but honestly had no idea it was like this. For that i apologize. This is just a bizarre deal to me. Uab is better academically, does more research and makes a huge impact in Alabama yet you're treated like a satellite campus. You have my support. Hopefully something good comes from this.

Some of us on the board remember the assurances that an OCS was on the way and those who doubted it were abused on this board. A certain number of us harbor a skepticism from that time.
