You obviously didn't watch the game. We were up 28-10 in the second half and it took an onside kick recovery to even get them within a score and they were never in position to win the game.
Never in a position to win? Had it not been for the pick and 100 yd TD return on the last play of the 3rd qtr, what could have been a 4 point game turned into a 18 point lead.
Had we not had a late hit on 3rd and 39, we get the ball back and likely end the game. Instead they score a TD to make it 21-10.
Had they not recovered the onside kick we win by at least 10.
There was a play where we stripped the ball and recovered it and for some reason the officials gave them the ball back.
We can play the ifs and buts game all day long. Bottom line is Tx St was never in a position to actually win the game. They would have had to recover two consecutive onside kicks.
had the refs not jobbed texas state with the 4th and 1 ball spot (lowe did get the first down) or job the defense with a terrible pi call that extended the drive that led to GS first td.
point of fact. GS won which is all that matters... but to say TXST wasn't in a position to win is flat out ridiculous. Had Fran kicked the field goal to end the 3rd... GS loses that game. Had the game been even a minute longer, GS loses that game.
if you actually believe the game was never in doubt and GS owned TXST, you're out of your mind.
Did Tx St ever have the ball with a chance to win the game? No
You got a lucky onside kick(give Fran credit there) and scored a TD to cut the lead from 10 to 3. You then tried another onside kick which failed and the game was over.
Never heard of saying you almost won when it would have required two consecutive onside kick conversions.

RE: Great adds...
I am beyond glad that everybody is now seeing how annoying Georgia Southern fans are...
They have a good season and they suddenly think they belong up there with Alabama and LSU.

GS was lucky to pull off the W no doubt about it. No telling what happened in the final minutes of the game. Texas State certainly looked like world beaters in the final minutes assuming nothing was limiting GS's game plan due to injury or whatever. Started having flash backs of our last meeting. I would MUCH rather have a close game against Texas State away than a close game against Ga State at home along with no OOC blowouts should give Texas state confidence that they have a heck of team. Best of luck the rest of the season.

I didn't say we almost won. We lost... I said that claiming the outcome of the game was never in doubt is completely inaccurate.
When TXST performed and made big plays it was luck? When GS struggled, they "just played bad" and it had nothing to do with what TXST did? I understand.
Now you're arguing that since TXST didn't have the ball late with a chance to take the lead it means you "owned" TXST. News flash for you buddy... if TXST had gotten the ball one more time Georgia Southern WOULD have lost that game.
"good luck" against navy.

of course, I'd rather look bad and win... than look good and lose.
GS got the W and that's all that counts.

I never said owned. I said you never had the ball with less than a 10 point deficit, which means you never had the ball with a chance to win.

RE: Great adds...
I think we can agree it was an ugly day execution wise but still a nail biter for both teams. It was also a game that kind of exposed how to stop Southerns offense, every triple option coach runs their own version and can be absolute hell trying to stop it until there is enough tape to determine their tendencies and/or have the talent to stop it. A lot of people see Georgia Southerns success as a result of poor competition and to an extent that is true but they are still a good team and should be able to maintain being in the top half of the league. If they think they are going to be able to run over TXST, USA, ULM, Ark st and ULL every year they are kidding themselves. I will give this to Georgia Southern they sure know how to come in and make an impact in our conference, yeah people aren't exactly thrilled with how Southerns fans have taken the success but c'mon guys I remember our first FBS season and was happy we went 4-8 much less 8+ wins so ima let it slide and just chalk it up to building future rivalries.

absolutely.
back to the topic of the thread... I think Georgia Southern was a steal when we added them to the conference.
I look forward to getting another shot at them next year.

i'm glad we're in the Sun Belt. as it's probably been mentioned, the only thing that made CUSA attractive to App was ECU and Marshall being good, local rivals and possibly ODU. but i'm glad we get to start new rivalries with much better football teams while keeping our hatred bowl going with the Stink
CUSA is going to really regret adding UNCC for football i believe. They had a monster 38-33 win today over DIII Wesley College to end their 6 game losing streak lol.

yes, we had the extremely embarrassing loss but it was the kick in the ass we needed. we've reeled off 4 wins in a row.
we could've let that loss effect us and continued to lose and keep embarrassing the Sun Belt, but we didn't

And that's why you are good for this conference. You are a program that doesn't allow failure for too long
