Harold "H-Bomb" Stevens

Don't think he was ever tackled.

Great list and comments....my vote, having played with Roth and Tyrrell and watching most of the rest:

Garrett W - toughest to catch (thus tackle)
Michael Turner, followed by Cam and Jordon (most likely to leave you with cleat marks as they run you over).

Good old #99.

Wow, that is really obscure!

The H-Bomb was huge but I don't remember him carrying the ball. Circa 1979.

They called him "The Bowling Ball".

I remember he would always wear the same Mr. Bubble t-shirt under his uniform for good luck.

When he'd run from the sidelines into the offensive huddle, everyone in the stadium would say "oooh." The Fridge before The Fridge.

Hahaha! I can't believe you remember this stuff.

It was memorable because he was so huge for the day and his rear end stuck up so high when he was in his stance. This was during my pressbox spotter days, so I remember it well and that the fans and the PA announcer got a big kick out of the H-Bomb name.

The 1979 Huskies went 5-5-1 under Pat Culpepper.

Tied EMU 0-0 at HUSKIE Stadium. It must have been like an NIU-EMU basketball game!

My freshman year. The Toledo game was bitterly cold yet oh so satisfying. The few of us there made it the loudest crowd of the year. Had to in order to keep warm.

H-Bomb was more a side show because he was so outsized relative to everybody else and not very good. In shape 300lbers were a rarity at that time and H-bomb was closer to 400. Think he only played a year
