Excited for the UAB-LaTech game
I am a Louisiana Tech alum from Atlanta and my wife and I are heading to the game on Saturday. We are looking forward to what should be an exciting game. While some of my fellow Bulldogs expect an easy game, I don't. I think your team will defend the home turf quite well. I am especially worried about your ability to run the ball because I feel we do better against teams that we can force into passing situations.

Since this will be our first trip to a UAB game, do you have any suggestions on what we should (or shouldn't) do? Is it easy to get to the stadium and find parking? Is there good food at the stadium, or should we plan on going somewhere before/after the game? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

The stadium is fairly easy to access, and there should be plenty of parking (bring some cash for that). You will have plenty of room to sit. Some people actually love the stadium hot dogs, but I don't eat them. I'd suggest eating somewhere else. They DO serve beer during the games, however, so there's that.

We expect a very good crowd, but it will look terrible in our monstrous stadium.

You guys are good, and that worries me, but we have something we haven't had in a while - legitimate hope!

$8 for parking at the stadium.

From I-20 I would just take I-59 to Tuscaloosa, then I-65S at the I-59/I-65 interchange.

Take the 1st exit on I-65S (I think it is 2nd ave North) & take a right. You will have to book it in a hurry to get over 3 or 4 lanes to make the exit. From there take a left after the road past the red light & then a right at the next street. It should run you right into the stadium.

If you are into Bass Pro Shops, on your way home stop at exit 140 on I-20 in Leeds for a visit.

So it sounds like if I like stadium dogs, then I am in luck for lunch. Otherwise, get something to eat before or after the game. Thanks!

There are Papa John's Pizza kiosks at the stadium. That is the best thing to eat in terms of concessions.

RE: Excited for the UAB-LaTech game
If coming in on I-20, it merges with I-59 at the airport then goes downtown. You have two approaches to Legion Field: I-59/20 to Arkadelphia Rd exit (first one past I-65) then left (up hill) by B'ham Southern College then down hill to turn left (east) on either Bush Blvd (8th Ave North) or Graymont Ave (5th Ave North) These bracket the stadium and have parking entrances from both streets.

Or you can turn onto I-65 south, very quickly work your way over to the right side exit at 6th Ave north, turn right (even numbered are one way west, odd numbered are one way east) and drive west on 6th Ave, 5th Ave (two way west of 9th street) or 8th Ave which go to Legion Field.(6th ends at Legion field parking area)

If you run early, come by the BlazerTalk tents by 8th Ave (north end) and say HI! We usually have enough good food to share with guests. The last time I saw La Tech play at Legion Field (1966), Terry Bradshaw was the new QB and surprised Bama with his passing ability.

This will be the most fired up team UAB has ever put on the field.

They won't just be playing to win a game tomorrow or go to a bowl game...they'll be playing to save own very scholarships and legacies. It be a very real and literal example of an "us against the world" mentality.
