UConn Begins Revenge against BC
UConn has beat BC in men's ice hockey. It was a 1-0 final score against No. 3 Boston College in Connecticut's first Hockey East home game. The crowd was 8,089 strong at Hartford's XL Center. Remember, numerous reports said BC blocked UConn's attempt to get into the ACC. More reason now to let UConn into the ACC or better yet the Big 10.

Okay Blumenthal. Time for both schools to let it go and renew their rivalry.

Is watching college hockey live as much fun as I would think? We'll never have a team, but I'm still jealous.

It really is a very fast, electric sport in person. What I like about it is that each team only gets one timeout, and no matter the score, the fast change of pace means that being down 2 goals with five minutes left is nothing like being down 14 in football with five minutes left, which helps keep the crowd engaged.
And just to clarify for OP...UConn & BC have some really bad blood regarding ACC, but BC supported UConn's entrance into Hockey East. I have a lot of hard feelings towards that school, but it is worth pointing out their support, and hopefully a budding on-ice rivalry (we need to do more than just beat them once, though) combined with new leadership at both schools will help them realize that having regional rivals is in their interest in ALL sports.
But either way, it is great to be in a strong conference with regional rivals (every NE land-grant is in Hockey East, except URI).

UConn Begins Revenge against BC
Congratulations to Uconn on a very good victory last night. BC is uncharacteristically struggling right now as they are feeling the impact of many departures to the NHL and are left with a very young team. Combined with the fact that everyone has BC circled on their calendars, this will likely be a long year for them. (On the other hand, it is not unusual for BC to struggle in November. How they play in February is what is critical.)
All that said, a great game by the Huskies.
Regarding the OP's point, I am always amazed by the narrative constructed that somehow BC was able to"block" Uconn from the ACC. Were they a "no" vote? Sure. But one single vote cannot block anybody. Regardless, I wasn't aware that hockey was an ACC sport so I am not clear on what the logic is here to begin with.

Good post, Whaler. Some people don't realize that BC fully supported Uconn's entry into HE.

"Revenge"? For what - UConn throwing a shitfit and trying to sue the ACC?

I will just nip this in the bud right now and direct you to an infinite number of other discussion on this board.

More reason? Why? I don't see your logic here. If North Dakota had beaten BC, would that be a reason for the ACC to invite them?

Spot on Whaler. The XL Center was electric last night.

It better have been. Otherwise, you get a bunch of hockey players skating around in the dark; and where's the fun in that?
