I think every SBC program is fully aware of what it means if UAB drops. For a whole variety of reasons.

Its why the UAB thread is 20 pages long on our board...the worst possible scenario for many of us in the SBC is CUSA needing only one team. Take the wrong team and you could have 3 or 4 others who aren't looking for a way out currently, looking for a way out.

We recommend JMU. They are ready and willing to take a CUSA invite and would be a great addition for your league.

ULL must not be 1 of those 4 then but of course they are going to the Big 12

We hope.

Good luck 04-bow

Oh...its mostly ULL fans. Got a few Georgia State and Texas State fans sniffing the air hopefully. All quiet in Mobile. I expect to hear something out of Arkansas State's administration about how terrible CUSA is the minute this actually occurred, per our AD and President's usual modus operandi.

Outside of a couple Georgia Southern fans being Georgia Southern fans, the rest of us know it doesn't effect us other than potentially having to add someone else.

We would if we could. But in the end the University of Alabama Board of Trustees controls everything we do. In their minds, they exist solely for the promotion of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and, more specifically, the UAT athletics. If that damages other universities in the system (who they are charged with promoting equally) they could not care less. They operate under the belief that anything that might take a penny's worth of donations away from the Crimson Tide must be destroyed. Sadly, there is no way out of the system without an act of the state legislature which is controlled by the same good-old-boy network. Alabama politics means corruption now, corruption tomorrow, corruption forever.

When is this "study" supposed to be finished and the results known? Would be nice to get this behind UAB quickly.

RE: B-Club Members ask President Watts for support of Bill Clark and UAB Football
After reading all these pages I think that UAB football is/will be a thing of the past. The biggest clue to that is the fact that there are no OOC games past 2016. Everyone knows how hard it is to schedule football games that sometimes are done ten years in advance (I might be exaggerating) but you get the idea. Everyone that is anyone in UAB already knows that curtain will come down at the end of 2016 and not a thing can be done about it.

The president only said what he said to appease the natives and squelch any opposition. He KNOWS football is doomed and is being political, like football coaches are when they're playing a weak team.

At any rate, I sent my vote for you guys to remain but the writing is on the wall and no paint will be able to take it off.

Good luck.

I hope that's not the case but if it is, I think C-USA should make an exception for UAB and keep them in all other sports.

It sure would. That's why I expect them to drag their feet until Coach
Clark takes a job somewhere else because he has been given no reassurance, and because recruiting has been gutted by the rumors.

I think we all know the fix is in but don't want to believe it. We'll fight till it's over, but my head says the decision was made before any of this started and they're just running a charade until they pull the plug.

I hope this doesn't happen. Nobody deserves the Atlantic Sun Conference, which is about the only place UAB would land.

RE: B-Club Members ask President Watts for support of Bill Clark and UAB Football
I am really hoping that this works out well for UAB, although the signs are ominous. If I was a recruit, I sure wouldn't pick UAB right now, so I think the way this is being handled and communicated is bad for the program, even if the powers that be decide to keep the program.

It surely does seem that the UA could easily afford two FBS level programs and not hurt the Tuscaloosa group at all. But I come from a State where significant resources go to the flagship University, and we get the leftovers, so I get it. Fairness, or equality, doesn't come into the picture, at all, and never will. It's just the way it is, and that's not going to change.

If this happens, I too would be MORE than happy to keep UAB for all sports, and ask UMass to join us for football only. UAB is too important to our traditions, and UMass did improve on the field this year, and has an upside as the flagship university in their state.

Lets not get al lovey on UMASS right away. The only reason they have won 2 games this year is because of Froh. If Blake wasn't there they would probably be 0-9.

We would love to stay in. Wish we could get VCU. That said, we are not gone yet. We are in the middle of a huge fight.

I would love UAB to stay. But my thoughts are what will stop them at just football, if they can just at the snap of their fingers discontinue UAB football what would stop them from discontinuing everything. Or what would stop them from moving UAB to DII or DIII even.

Yeah VCU isn't happening, they are in the A10 for a long while.

Yep, IMO, this is a crossroads. They've been able to railroad everything before. Now is the time for UAB, and UAH, to declare independence!

This.

Is there any sort of time-frame to find out what's going on?
