end of SC run?
Already the SC Gamecocks show signs of taking a major step back this year...
...now HC Spurrier has a "jump the shark" moment when he quotes Taylor Swift to his players [ signs of taking ]
...is this the end of the run?

I've always been told if you shake it more than twice, your playing with yourself.
How many times is the Ole' ball coach going to shake it this year?

The 'Ole Ballsack is out of gas, thank God.
I disliked that loudmouth since he played at Florida. Good riddance when he finally retires into the sunset.

RE: end of SC run?
This has been a fun year, but I would resist the urge to bury the dirtpeckers just yet. Their biggest problem this year has been the fact that they lostthe playing talent that has masked the loss of defensive coaching talent the past few years.
Ellis Johnson was the key cog in their rise in the second half of Spurrier's regime. It was his defenses that allowed them to win while Spurrier's vaunted offenses sputtered year after year. When Johnson left to take the Southern Miss HC job and they promoted Lorenzo Ward to DC and hired Kirk Botkin from the Texas HS ranks to be the LB coach I told my dirtpecker friends that it might not be immediate with the talent they had on defense but they were going to start to slip. Then the loss of a very good DL coach in Brad Lawing and replacing him with Deke Adams from UNC. Clowney, Vic Hampton, DJ Swearinger, Kelsey Quarles, etc. were talented enough to mask the coaching drain but they are gone now and their replacements don't have the same ability and experience.
Now if Spurrier makes changes on that side of the ball they can quickly rebound. They have some decent talent lined up (if they can get them in school, which has also been a problem) so it could be a one year blip. However one has to wonder if a top level DC is going to be willing to come in and work for a notoriously difficult coach to work under, and one that obviously have all that much longer in the position he currently holds.

From an outsiders perspective they seem to be an odd program. Among programs with their stadium capacity and attendance numbers, they're an outlier in terms of historical performance. It's easy to forget following Spurrier's success, but 6 of the last 8 SC coaches before him (going back to the early 1960's) finished with a losing record during their tenure.
Take out the Ballcoach's tenure and they have an all-time program record of 500-507. I wouldn't bury them yet though. Their SEC membership could be seen as a blessing or a curse. You have the built-in recruiting pull and the financial resources. On the other hand if you make a poor hire in today's SEC you could get buried quickly, although membership in the East eases those concerns compared to the West currently.
