If it wins, I'm OK with it.

We try to get away from the filth, but it follows us. Curse you, Rhoades!

I don't think Rice has quite enough depth to do this for 40 minutes yet, so you will probably only experience this for 30-35 minutes a game ... this year. Basketball style will be very similar to VCU.
expect a lot of criticism of your team after every game then.
'Havoc' is a bull**** style of play.
Its basically the polar-opposite of Rice under Ben Braun the last few seasons. From a slow, set offense and a no-pressure defense that left perimeter shooters open with regularity to speed and movement on both sides of the ball 100% of the time.

Plus ran off any fan we might have still had remaining. When we hired Rhoades, a Syracuse fan warned me that "havoc" would not sit well with the rest of C-USA. But I think it is needed to get the Rice fan base to come back to basketball after the transfer debacles under Ben Braun.

I actually like a fast paced game with pressing defense. The problem with the "havoc" style when we were in the CAA with the great unwashed (VCU) there was a foul to be called on almost every defensive play. The refs rarely called any on the "Golden Children". The CAA favored VCU so outrageously it was hard to stomach. I have faith in the classy, upscale fans of Rice that they will not morph into the obnoxious style of Ram fans. I hope Rhoades brings the good and leaves the disgusting in the Capital of the Confederacy!!

Bring on the havoc. It is gimmicky and gets the conference a lot of good OOC wins against opponents that aren't used to it, but is easy to beat in conference. Even in their Final Four year, VCU finished 4th in the CAA regular season.

Personally, I think our depth will win a lot of games this year. We have ten good players this year instead of the 6 from last year. It'll be the UTEP version of 40 minutes of hell. If you don't have depth you're screwed. You might stay close the first 25/30 but then it'll be over.
Pomeroy is a dunce, no way we're no.78.

^^ This. All you need is a few big bad dudes (Frank Hassell) to punch their lights out.

RE: Preseason Pomeroy - MBB
It's tough to beat them at home with the homecooking adding to the reluctance to call fouls every time down the court. If the refs would just call the game straight up both home and away, every contact that is a foul is called as one, then they would be forced to adjust or get used to playing their walk ons at the end of the game. But the NCAA is too chicken to actually try to clean it up.
Look at what happened last year, the refs called games tight early on, there were some real foul fests, commentators and coaches howled, and magically those tight calls went away. As a result, the same bruising teams were rewarded by the end of the year and especially in the tournament, just like always and it was a big waste. If they'd stick to it more consistently, then basketball would be more likely to become free flowing again once teams have adjusted to the new way of foul calling (especially once recruiting adjusted).
