I have to give you guys credit, Champions Baptist might be the weakest opponent I have ever seen on an SBC Schedule...didn't they lose to a SWAC School by 100 points last year?

Edit...they did 116-12 to Southern.

That's a crazy home schedule"

It might be more to help the coach W/L record. I have always believed some coaches schedule weak, to pad their personal records. not saying he is doing this, just a opportune possibility.

RE: How do you like your schedule......
You folks don't really get how far our BB program fell. Kasper came in last year and a lot of the players left (or were sent packing) and we lost a couple to graduation. Nutt destroyed any semblance of a college BB program

This is not going to be an easy turnaround so, yeah, building some confidence in a, basically, new team is a must. Don't buy the padding the coaches resume for a second. I also think we need OOC wins to get the team going.

I can see that, and it's probably smart of him. I think he's all about building the program. If the strategy works, it's a win/win. So far, I like him, and wish him and the program well. 04-cheers

Kasper's not about padding his record. Look at what he did at SFA. He's about building and maintaining a program.

I'm excited to watch the team grow but it's baby steps. Easy schedule to boost team and fan morale with a better record. He scheduled well at SFA, so he's not padding, just trying to give an inexperienced team a chance instead of getting throat punched.

I dont want you guys to think i was accusing him of padding his personal record. i was just stating a belief i have that some may do that. and after rereading my prior post, it sounds like im talking from both sides of my mouth. it was a attempt to make a general statement, but could have been done better.

I thought the SBC only allowed one non D1 game. We need to change these scheduling rules if not.

. . . No problem, and certainly no offense taken . .. I can see your point of view, just don't think Kasper is that kind of guy, lucky for us!

It's our first D1-only schedule in history so I'm happy, especially after FOUR sub-D1 games last year.

We got a unique schedule. Hampton and Hofstra at home, Ohio, Jacksonville, Charlotte, VT, Furman, GT and Bama on the road. Every non-conf game is winnable in a sense.

RE: How do you like your schedule......
Damn. Not only is App. seemingly doing a better job scheduling football non-conference games but they are doing better than us in basketball also.

Here are our non-conference basketball games this year:
at Illinois
Home vs. Trinity College (Who is this?)
Home vs. Johnson University of Florida (Another world beater I am sure)
Home vs. Florida International
Home vs. South Carolina St.
At Central Florida
At South Florida
At Stetson
Home vs. Truitt-McConnell (Well we should beat that guy I guess)

So our home non-conference schedule has 3 non D1 schools on it

Are there any questions why we supported the 20 game conference schedule with 10 home conference games this year?

Some decent teams but the first three are head scratchers. But I do lie stage games after. Gonna be a very road weary team. The twenty conference games I don't mind cause it has to be taxing trying to fill out a schedule.

If we're playing a 20 game conference schedule there is no need for more than 1 D2 game. Sign home and homes with CUSA, MW, CAA, Big South, SoCon, OVC, Southland members if you're concerned about home games.

heck you have a ton more options for D1 basketball, but everyone wants a home game. GS is in a tough spot. We are historically not great and are arena is sub standard (and falling apart). It is very hard to get home games against D1 opponents. I like the 20 game conference schedule. helps build unity and rivalries.
