No Joy in CFB Ranking. NO surprise either
I can't say that I was surprised. But it is...what it is.

I like what Doc said about all of this ranking stuff...we have 4 more, maybe 5 more games to play. Let's just take them one at a time, and at the end of the day look up and see where we are.

In the end, that's all we can do. We aren't going to change anything and all we can do is take care of the things we can control.

If wvu can lose to Kansas State they may jump into the top 15. It's amazing how much this committee loves quality losses.

Committee is punting instead of making a decision. The committee is no better than any other system. Compare what Ohio State and Duke have done. Almost the same. But the one with the name is eight spots higher.

RE: No Joy in CFB Ranking. NO surprise either
I was listening to sports radio and the asked the head of the playoff committee about Marshall. He answered they are in line for the access bowl slot...

Hey numb nut. First off we are talking about the playoff and not being included in the poll at all.
Also based on your poll at the time I heard you last week ECU would have went to the access bowl

They have no intent on ever giving a playoff spot to a G5 school. Look at the make up of the committee. There is no G5 representation

A cool fix would be that any undefeated team at the end of the season goes to the 4 team playoff.just have play in games to insure all undefeated teams are included

If a G5 went undefeated with wins over two p5 ranked teams they might have a chance to make it if ther are only two p5 powers with less than two losses.

The committee thing is stupid and once they piss off a couple of the big boys things will change. That said there is still a lot of football left to play and if Marshall wins out they should be in really good shape.

I didn't expect Marshall to be in it this week since they didn't play a game. Probably be next week or in two weeks after Rice if they win both games.

No surprise from me either. I didn't expect Marshall to be ranked. I don't know that a win next week will do it. If we can get ten wins, it might be enough.

inclusive sect rules = short term, best case, earning potential = downsizing

therefore, 'they' finally figured it out....sect loses regardless and mirrors greed to the most finite of definitions

I understand nobody will get the gist....(a few will)

ya just gotta love da internutz....it's also an inclusive term from a personal perspective....

RE: No Joy in CFB Ranking. NO surprise either
In fairness, Air Force has a person on the committee, so we do have 1 out of 13 appointed.

I asked this question on a Marshall board! and looked around the net! but couldn't find an answer. Who exactly picked the committee members and how (and by whom) are they being paid? I doubt they are doing this for free.

I think if you knew those two answers a bunch of stuff would become even more clear.

Last thing, it is virtually impossible that any G5 team will ever be considered. Even if you scheduled 4 top ten teams, from four different P5 conferences and all went on to win their conferences you wouldn't make it if you won all 4. Reason being that you are still going to play 8 teams ranked between 40 and 128 and end up with a SOS of around 60. The teams you beat would get in front of you because they are going to have schedules in the teens and be 12-1. Better overall body of work.

you guys have played nobody.....sos is 122 out of 128.....

nobody saw this coming before the season started (sarcasm)

I only care about this week and our ability to move forward......you guys lose even if you beat us....

it sucks, doesn't it? I mean that in a nice manner. It's painful to have that schedule hold back potential......a few years ago, who'd a thunk this schedule would have this type of impact.....('they' did)

time to pay the reaper for that....I like the honesty from the majority of yaz....I would be in your camp if it was southern miss

just keep winning and let the chips fall....it's all the g5ers have left in the cupboard....that's what really sucks about it in totality....

They need to do a G5 ranking at the same time. We would all benefit from the exposure an the fact that it's a hell of a race with good football being played.

yep, on this day of voting that will most certainly create a more ineffective gubment <sic>, let's create another division along with another committee.....

lmfao....

Again, not surprised. They are forced to hold their noses and choose one of us lowly G5 teams eventually. Our schedule is what it is. We can only play it out, and see what happens.

Of course, it is disappointing to not be ranked in this poll and possibly not be considered a candidate for the Access Bowl, but we are still having a great year. It has been a long time since we have had such a special team.

just enjoy the wins...enjoy watching your studs.....it's just fun at this point....I hate to come off as a sadistic pacifist, but my fight was leeched a couple of years ago... 04-cheers

if you guys win saturday, I actually hope you guys beat the fk out of us and the remaining teams....

ultimately, just win the bowl game.....I'm not certain that matters anymore (reference NIU(who?)

The eventual solution is going to be the highest rank G5 school gets the highest seed in the playoffs and has to play the number one seed. Or they could give the top seeds byes and make the G5 school play more games and have a larger chance to eventually lose out.

I thought about WVU's placement, and wondered if any of their position had anything to do with a "friendly" vote or two for a fellow member of the committee (Oliver Luck)? I don't begrudge WVU their spot as their losses were quality losses, but a three loss team, regardless of who it is, seems to be a ridiculous statement for the committee to make at this point in the season.

The bottom line is this....at no time is it ever likely that any G5 school would get a playoff spot unless it expanded to at least 8 teams.

RE: No Joy in CFB Ranking. NO surprise either
I don't have a problem with not making it to a 4-team playoff. There are a lot more deserving teams even if, like banker said, we played 4 top ten teams and won in OOC. What I do have issue with is that this poll will also dictate who plays in the other access bowls. Putting a 3-loss team above an undefeated team makes it obvious that they are planning on omitting the G5's access to any major bowl. EDIT: After reading the criteria, if none of the G5 are ranked (Top 25), the G5 will not receive an access bowl invite. The criteria states "highest ranked" G5 will gain access.

Ironically, if Marshall does go undefeated, we will have perfectly bookmarked major bowl access with two undefeated seasons; one just prior to BCS bowl access and one just after...
