NIU v BSU
Interesting history. From 1966-70 we beat them 5 times. From 1974-1998 (several years we did not play). From 1974 - 1998, BSU beat us 18 out 19 times. As of today it looks like we are 1 win from tieine uo the series. I think I am accurate on the stats so for the fact checkers i did this in between work.

RE: NIU v BSU
We have beaten Ball State the last five times we've played them. The last BSU win was in 2008, the infamous weeknight game with Lou Holtz doing the analysis on the ESPN broadcast.
He was painful to listen to then and he's even worse now.

We've repeatedly kept Ball State out of the MACC, and there aren't any players on their roster who have been NIU. The last 3 years BSU has held a second-half lead against us, only to come out on the losing end. They will be angry and fired up. We will have to be at our best to win. Go Huskies.

Our all time record vs. Ball State is 19-20-2

The 80s were awful. At least 3 times NIU lost to BSU on last-second drives.

That game in Muncie in 2012 was the first time it hit me just how amazing of a player Jordan Lynch was. A game like that we have seen 100's of times and it had all the momentum of a loss. Lynch didn't let that happen. That was one of my best memories of the Orange Bowl year, it was the first time I thought something extraordinary may be underway.

For the longest time afterwards I could not believe that we won that game. JL and that long Akeem run were just amazing. That performance definitely made the trip well worth it!

for Wed, can't leave any points on the field. Need to cash in every chance. Would love to see Akeem finish the last 4 strong, but lingering injury may preclude it.

I really hope that if NIU is at about the 30-40 yard lines going to score, they go for it on 4th down. Wedel has really been brutal the last few and its almost has gotten comical in my mind that when he is going out there I'm expecting a miss. If not I hope they give someone else a shot at the FGs.

That's what you get with an inconsistent team. You just don't know how they'll perform. Disappointed that the line has been so inconsistent because they're a veteran group. I really expected them to own the MAC teams but they really struggled against CMU, Kent, and EMU (at times). You'd think we would have steamrolled them.

Hey, we're 3 pt favorites, whatever that's worth. This team has been inconsistent, along with a QB question mark, along with a young secondary, along with Daniels and Bass injuries (thought Daniels would be a positive force this year), along with a coaching staff that doesn't seem to make in game adjustments.
Bottom line: it's a crap shoot.... personally I see us going 2-2 to finish the year, 8-4 ain't bad for this team.

RE: NIU v BSU
NIU reminds me of the 2010 Rockets a little bit. Switching OOC with conference play. We went 7-1 in the conference, but played pretty bad in our losses OOC. Some young guys that were a large part of our future arose (Fluellen, Thomas, Owens, Dantin, Page). Like NIU, Toledo had trouble finding a QB who was consistent, and we actually rode the 2QB system in the following seasons. The low point to the year was the bowl game against FIU, where I thought Toledo was by far the better team and an old coach knew our signs on the FIU sideline. They stormed back to beat the Rockets on the final drive with a 4th and 17 hook and ladder play setting up a FG. Toledo ended up 8-5, and that's about how your season looks to be shaping up. No offense. Not trying to be a troll. To me the seasons look similar.

Yea, there are some similarities. I guessed 8-4 for this year, not counting the bowl game of course. The way they've played, I wouldn't bet on a bowl victory so that would make it 8-5. Hopefully we can get by the Birdies.

Have the two deeps been put out yet? Hopefully with a few days of extra rest we see Akeem back. I'm expecting a big game outta the back field

I remember back in the 80s it seemed like we always lost to Ball State, even when they weren't that good. They had our number.
