He's done a masterful job at UAB and with a break here and there, UAB could be 7-2.

I still think that Diaco will turn UConn around. He inherited a dumpster fire there, but he's a good coach. But he's a ladder climber so his stay there will be short either way.

Charlie Strong gets a "C"? I'd be sending him to summer school.

Let's see what UConn does over the next four games. Diaco may get a C now, but with some more wins, he would be an honors student.

RE: Grading FBS’ First-Year Head Coaches
Judging any new coach at this point is kind of pointless. They're playing with someone else's recruits and often with players brought in for a completely different system. A lot of college football games are won or lost during recruiting and until these guys have had a chance to make an impact there, we won't know if they're the right person for the job. Wait another two or three seasons when their guys are playing in their system, and then decide how well they're doing. Otherwise, you're signing Charlie Weis to a a ten-year contract or firing Rich Rod prematurely.

Strong and Diaco are being unfairly downgraded for their predecessors handing off a dumpster fire to them.

RE: Grading FBS’ First-Year Head Coaches
Interesting that Anderson had Arkansas State at 4-3 (now 5-3) when the article was written and is described as having AState in 5th place (one game out of first when the article was written) and gets a C+ when last year at this point Arkansas State was 3-4 and a game back of first.

Anderson beat a better FCS school (Montana State vs. Ark-Pine Bluff last year) and last year AState lost soundly to Memphis while this year beat Utah State in OT.

All-in-all Anderson has AState in better position than this point last year.

That's a pretty fair assessment.
