Good news, and poignant for those who remember 9/11/01.

Still, I just have to say that we should have reached this point about 7-8 years ago. Maybe 6 years ago at the latest.

^ it has to be tough to clear it out, create a museum thats tasteful, decide on a design that makes the majority happy, fund it, and build it....all while bring reverent of what happened there.

You're forgetting the multiple bureaucracies, multiple unions, collusion, corruption, bribery, and graft that is inherent in any project in NYC.

Im kinda with Chris Rock on this. He said he will never set foot in that building. I have to admit...I would be scared to death to work there.

I visited ground zero two years ago. It was one of the more moving experiences in my life. It was interesting to see the new One World going up right beside the footprint of the old WTC.

Didn't insurance issues hold it up the longest?

The memorial and the museum weren't actually that much of a challenge. What was a problem was justifying rebuilding that much office space in a city with almost a 50% surplus.

One of my high school classmates visited the WTC the day of the bombing back in the 90s. Apparently wherever his family was going to eat had a dress code that didn't permit blue jeans, so his family left shortly before the bombing happened.
